The legacy of Steve Smith

Yeoman

U19 Captain
Top 10 bat for sure. No signature shot at all that i can think of.
I hope he leaves no legacy in terms of his technique.
I respect him and what he's achieved, but cant say i enjoy watching him...and hate the thought of kids learning from him.
I take the opposite view. When first considering the question posed in the thread I thought first of his technique and hope that it inspires others (batsmen and bowlers) to be innovative and go their own way and not be hidebound by convention.

Signature shot is that ugly swiping sort-of pull off his pads surely
I think of the step to the offside and then when you think you've got him lbw he hits you through mid wicket. He has an amazing hand/eye coordination, and the fact he's relied so heavily on that is why he's perhaps starting to show signs of fading a little now.

Greats don't fade!

So Ricky Ponting isn't a great? Ffs. All batsmen "fade" as they get older, you still make scores but you just do so less consistently. Being a "great" doesn't suddenly turn you into a supernatural entity who doesn't feel the consequences of age.

Haha Molehill at his absolute rubbish best here. I hope you are drunk and taking the piss right now because you are spouting some serious garbage

Yeah a year ban was way less than every other ball tamperer has been punished

And he didn't even do it lol
Crazy that would factor in, considering not even a bowler so wouldn't impact his numbers. While actual bowlers who did, are glossed over. 🤷🏽‍♂️
