Barnsley have been kicked out of the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player.

Their first round opponents Horsham will take their place.

Horsham are in enfield towns league. They are lower table side in the division every year so fair play for getting this far. Makes our elimination to cray Valley even more disappointing

I wonder what the cause for any legal action/suing is here tbh. Everton haven't directly done anything to harm any of these clubs, which ordinarily is what is required in order for one party to sue another. If anything the clubs in question would most likely have a grievance with the Premier League for not imposing the fine earlier, I should have thought.
Would have thought not much seeing as Everton haven't broken the law.

For anyone interested the Man City youtube page has a phenomenal doco on Riyad Mahrez.

One of the best docos I've seen in a very long time, even as a LFC fan it was worth a watch.

Crazy story that he made it from non-league football in France all the way to the top - and stayed there.

Pretty sure he failed a trial at St Mirren when he was younger.
Interesting. The premise at the start of the doco is that he never got near any academies and his mother was too busy working to take him to trials. He was basically just a street footballer who some scouts just happened to come across.

Obviously the guy is that good he would have been noticed at some point but its still a remarkable story. I am just impressed he managed to stay consistently good as long as he did. Plenty of those sort of players get to the top, get the cash, the girls and the cars then end up being fringe squad players and never amount to anything much at the real top once they're surrounded by stars.

Mahrez managed to get right to the top individually at Leicester then kicked on at City and was always a crucial player.

Also really cool how they get Ngolo Kante in to talk about the two of them coming through the lower divisions together. Ranieri plays his part in the doco too and there's some interesting stuff on the role Slimani played in all of it.

Is it really that crazy that the non-league route is one that they take. There are always stories of insanely talented players at that level who miss out due to a multitude of factors. Having that talent must get you noticed at some point if a player has that focus.

A few hours ago, my mate was predicting that Ramsdale would have an absolute shocker standing in for Raya this evening. That looks remarkably prescient of him right now.
