Yeah. India because they are at home. Australia because they are champions and India is their 2nd home. And England to round off the top 3 as they had a power hitting lineup. We didn't give others much of a chance. Considering that, New Zealand did well and so did South Africa whenever they weren't under pressure.

australia is the final boss of world cricket so it makes narrative sense that india needs to knock off a resurgent australia on home soil to take the 11-0 perfect cup to put on the mantle

tbf india's the only non-australian team to win a world cup this millennium so if anyone can do it it's them but it should be an awesome game

It's been a strange run of form he's had, but to say his form has fallen off a cliff is a huge overbid.
He was rubbish in the leadup to the cup and in his first couple games as well. Then he found rhythm and has been instrumental in Australia's success.
He got 18 wickets in 5 matches, including 3/21 against England where he didn't concede more than a single in his entire spell!
Yes he was poor again yesterday but if Australia are to have any shot at winning he will be absolute key to their chances.

You put Rashid in a better bowling attack and team and he would do way better against the top nations. He can’t do much because his playing a lot of minnows and when he comes against the top sides Afghanistan can barely get 200-250 most the time for his team to defend they don’t have strong pacers as well on flatter pitches. That’s why it’s hard to compare Rashid record to others

It serves a purpose with "modern" ODI bowlers in the sense that it shows they're hard for batsman to smash without risking losing their wicket. Kinda the inverse of how economy is less useful than it used to be.

More than anything it shows that modern batsmen are more aggressive. They're more likely to go hard throughout the innings, even at the opposition's best bowlers.

You see 9/350 today a lot whereas back 20-30 years ago it was often 5/250*. Also tended to see off the better bowlers and give them 1/25 off 10 rather than 4/50.

So modern bowlers having better strike rates doesn't really mean they are more incisive or dangerous, just means batsman give their wicket away slightly more often now

A couple of those Saffers are some of the best hitters of spin in the world so I wouldn’t read too much into it other than just being an ordinary day out

I am more concerned about Maxwell as I find it hard to believe that he will go an entire WC without being belted at least once

Yeah pretty surprising how teams haven’t tried to belt Maxwell like they have with Zampa.
