so who are the youngsters expected for SA in ODIs after this WC?

i am a huge fan of Donovan Ferrerira and Dewald Brewis

Ferrerira is a wicketkeeper who can also bowl and hits them big 360 degrees. insane talent

don't know enough about upcoming spinners tho

1 ?
2 Brewis
3 Dussen
4 Markram
5 Klaasen
6 Stubbs
7 Ferreira
8 Fortuin
9 Coetzee
10 Rabada
11 Ngidi

brewis, markram and ferreira possible bowling options atm other than main bowlers. idk if one of them will stop bowling at some point to become a specialist in one department

Rassie is 34 can't see him hanging around.

They'd be stupid not to get Bedingham into their Test and ODI sides(albeit he's nearly 30)

Opening with Gilchrist?
Yeah

You have a bit of nostalgia with Hayden and whole 07 thing but Warner has been great for longer and over multiple world cups. I mean if I have to pick one of the two from a given point, I'd have Hayden from 07 but over their careers, Warner has definitely surpassed Hayden. Pretty comfortably too

Nah. Gilchrist and Hayden

Gilchrist and Watto (you'd need a 4th seamer) imo.

Top 7

Gilchrist
Watson
Ponting
Jones
Symonds
Bevan
Hussey

If Maxwell produces a matchwinning performance in the final move Hussey to 5 instead of Symonds and pick the big show at 7.

Very close between M Waugh, Hayden, Watson, and Warner but unless Greg Chappell gets in ahead of Ponting or Jones in the middle order and is 4th seamer (he doesn't), Watson gets the nod for opener.

Bavumas captaincy didn’t lose this. South Africa’s top order weren’t brave enough up front. The bowlers made a good effort out of it after the poor start. Defending like 210 is always a tough ask in any pitch
Think this is unfair. De Kock tried to be brave and immediately got out. The conditions were what you would expect after being inserted on the first day of a test match. I think both sides misread how tough it would be despite the overhead conditions and fact the pitch had been under covers.

I forgot all about Watto

I don't think Symonds misses out for either of Hussey or Maxwell though. He was something really special. Worth 15-20 runs a game with his fielding alone

Ide take maxwell over hussey. You don't need both bevan and hussey in the same side, especially if Mike ****s up at 7. They call maxy the big show for a reason.

Hussey was a pretty great no. 7 though

He averaged 120.83 in 31 innings lol

Probably a better strike-rate than Maxwell too

That was right at the start of his career, we had Symonds/Clarke/Hussey at 5/6/7. He basically came in and made between 50 and 80 not out nearly every game at a strike rate of 140+

It was a ridiculous team
