When we( Indian fan ) are feeling this nervous, imagine the pressure on these 11 players to deliver. Probably the most hyped Cricket World Cup after 2011.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are under fire after claims emerged they have switched out the pitch for their side’s semifinal against New Zealand - without the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) permission.

ICC event pitches come under the supervision of the governing body’s consultant, Essex-born Andy Atkinson, who is credited as having a “greater knowledge of cricket pitches around the world than anybody else on the planet.”

Atkinson comes to an agreement with the home cricket board as to which of the numbered pitches on the square are to be used in each game.

In a shocking revelation, Australian media are reporting that the agreement has been ignored on the eve of the tournament’s climax. The pitch scheduled to be used in the first semifinal in Mumbai has already been used twice, with the narrative it could assist India’s strong spin bowling lineup as they seek a fourth World Cup final appearance at their home tournament.

Wankehde Stadium plays host to the first semifinal and the pitch that was agreed to be used No 7 - a fresh and unused wicket so far this World Cup.

However, a WhatsApp message has been circulated to a group of more than 50 BBCI and ICC officials that confirms the first semifinal will be played on pitch No 6 - a pitch that has already staged two matches this tournament.
It is understood that Atkinson was informed of an unspecified issue with pitch No 7 - but that he did not share the sentiment.

Concerns have arisen that the pitch to be used for the final in Ahmedabad may also be changed.

Aktinson is understood to have flown to Ahmedabad last week, prompted by frustration over a lack of answers around preparation for the final.

It has further been revealed while that the opening match of the World Cup between the Black Caps and England was played on the agreed surface, none of the next three matches followed the schedule - with Atkinson claiming an email that changes had been made “without proper notice or forewarning”.

Yes well a nice PowerPoint with some “pretty please” suggestions which 3/12 curators didn’t even bother attending. I don’t think icc is involved at all other than to stress what constitutes a good pitch by icc standard. I don’t think they’re anymore involved than that (nor should they be, given local differences in pitch preparation).
You can play this down all you want, by talking about how 25% of curators didn't turn up when 75% did, and that you don't think ICC is involved when it's clear they are in some official capacity....but this all seems a bit smelly.

Whatever it takes!!!
Wait are you serious? I thought it was a joke. What does that mean? ICC flies in a dude from London to take over the Wankhade pitch preparation a month before the WC? Some dude from Mumbai flew to Lord's prior to the World Test Championship and took over the preparation? This is not a thing.
Mate stop acting like a ****ing know it all. ALL grounds for ICC events are handed over to the ICC for the duration of the event in said grounds. Just because idiots in IE cooked something up in their jealousy doesn't mean we need to add to this salt by certain posters.

It is false bull**** as usual.

This pitch rumors is what kiwi fans will use to defend once their team will lose.
The salt is already more than the Bay of Bengal in this thread and not restricted to kiwi fans. Burgey has already had his customary yelling at clouds whinge and biased bs lies.

India attack is so well rounded at the moment that they don't need a certain pitch. They can bowl well on 'any indian pitch'

A slightly faster pitch or a bit slower pitch or a flatter pitch. Doesn't matter. Couldn't care less tbh.

I mean it would only stand out if they somehow made it into a big turner and India go in with 3 frontline spinners, including Ashwin. But none of that is happening. So it's pretty irrelevant. All the small tweaks not gonna matter. Whoever plays better will win. Just media propaganda.

So far the only people mad in this thread are all from one country.

I hope it rags square. Closes the talent gap between the spin attacks. Maybe the specialist will score NZ some runs.

Lol. Not surprised that India are so terrified of the might of NZ Cricket that they're stooping to influence what's supposed to be an independent pitch curation process. Mentally, it's game over. NZ will win by 500 runs.
probably clickbait

slow pitch vs nz is ineffective because they can adapt and bat well anyway

would work vs SA

Why are we so sure it’s fake news? That latest article seems to have more details in terms of which pitches were used etc. I’d wait for more details before dismissing anything. Best guess atm is it’s some half truth where the pitches were swapped but not for nefarious reasons.
