2023-24 Australian domestic cricket season

So out of the 3 openers Vics have gone with Travis Dean as the one to bat 3. Strange choice he's the most opener-y one of them.

Probably because the other 2 both think they're going to be playing Test cricket as openers
Pucovski only opened first game because Harris was out, batted 3 last game and would have done so again had Dean not been out

Sounds like he may have been concussed in the warm up from what I heard, Kelleway is now listed in the team on the CA website
Cricinfo says it was in the game.

"Travis Dean was subbed out of the match on day 2 with concussion after being struck on the helmet while fielding at short leg. The 31-year-old walked from the field without assistance but is being monitored by medical staff"

Yeah, I saw that a bit later on. My mistake.

Hunt back in the runs is nice to see. Still prefer him to either Harris or Bancroft if he can string some performances together.
Was excellent to see him return to form after a bit of a lean run. Think he's probably a bit of a way back from international thoughts as things stand right now, but if this can be sustained he absolutely may come back into calculations in the medium to long term

You would think at current time he would be 4th on the list of Warner replacements? There's a spot available in Jan, if Hunt goes big till then he's in with a huge shot. You would think its Bancrofts to lose atm though

Maybe, it's hard to say for sure really. Was overlooked for the most recent Aus A team (Jewell and Ward were in that squad as well as Bancroft), yet he did play in an Aus A team back at the end of last summer. Certainly hasn't been forgotten about but I honestly have no idea what the selection panel rate those below the apparent top three options (who seem to be a decent gap ahead of everyone else in the selectors eyes to me)

Agreed that Bancroft feels the most likely at this time. I would personally prefer Renshaw though
