There's a slight feeling of hopelessness to the bowling and our future bowlers on these sorts of wickets. Because unless you're Bumrah, pretty much everyone just gets destroyed.

Fortunately we won't always play on 400 pitches, though there's no doubt the game has become more batter friendly.

I'm pretty sceptical about picking Ford Trophy performers. I think the Boult route to becoming a good white ball bowler is likely to become more common for our top talents ie. Test cricket first, where being able to bowl the same ball again and again with a bit of movement is rewarded, then gradually adapt to international (or IPL) white ball cricket, which requires a heap of guile and different skills to even survive. Have to back someone like Jamieson to learn the skills for white-ball over time.

Why u guys worrying over future lol ,the present is in danger rn , if the game vs Sl gets washed out too ,it's most likely over for NZ , Pakistan just need to win a game to secure their place , what an awful way to exit It's gonna be then, such a heartbreaking one..

The loss against Aus will hurt massively then.

Surprised nobody saw the weather for NZ-SL game before or during the NZ-Pak game.

Forecast has only got worse since.

We've had every opportunity to control our own destiny and come very close to doing so 2-3 times with the SA game being the only one sided belting. Rain would be a boring way to go but NZ haven't played to a level where they could feel robbed imo.
Nah still wil feel robbed if the next game washes out

Nah flem is right, we've belted an underperforming england side that everyone and their grandma is beating, and we've bashed the lower ranked teams. When the big boys showed up, we were put in our place. Not the hallmark of a world champion side.

I think Afghanistan win is underrated given how well they’ve played against the bigger teams in conditions which suit them. But since then NZ have either blinked during good positions and key moments (Ind/NZ), or looked short on ideas (South Africa, bowling vs Pakistan). So yes, in agreement.

I think this is a tad unfair, and I'm not in anyway trying to make excuses but I don't think we've been put in our place at all. A very quick analysis...
We lost to Pakistan on D/L and that's fair, but we did still have a reasonable shot before the rain came.
The loss to India was by no means terrible. In fact it's by far the closest anyone's got to them. If we could of somehow got that 6th wicket earlier
anything could have happened, it didn't but we were well in the game unlike any other team has been.
We lost by a bees dick to Australia who had hit some form, literally a hit away from pulling off an incredible win.
Yes we got destroyed by South Africa and nothing to smile about there, but it's one bad game which everyone barring India has had.
If our last match is rained off against a team we've played miles better than then it's fair to say we've been unlucky.
We've had ONE bad game in the tournament, even South Africa have had two horrendous games.

I didn't think we'd go all the way - probably semi-finals at best - before the tourney and the first four games got us to #daretodream

We've really just come back to our mean since then really.

Nope, we aren't robbed if it rains. If you lose four games in a row, you can't feel aggrieved. We've only won one 'big' game, and turns out it was against a bunch of minnows. Yes we pushed India, yes we almost beat Australia and yes we might've beaten Pakistan, but what ifs have been a hallmark of our last two World Cups that netted no major reward. I'll be gutted if we miss out but I won't feel robbed.

still nah , it should be a full game to decide the result of whos going into semis and not a washout , results of league games dont matter much , what matters is how u handle the pressure in semis and finals..

So if the game vs SL is washed out i will still feel we were robbed of a chance going into semis fairly , as pak game got affected by rain too, not saying we would have won it , but was 50-50.

if we are going into semis,we are gonna be the champions . believe in ur team:kicking:

That's right, and it's going to be really devastating for all the other teams when a side that's lost FOUR matches takes the trophy. I look forward to it.

It's not always immediately apparent, but in hindsight the massive missed opportunity was against Australia. We almost stole the match with a great batting performance, but we really really should have been chasing a lesser target. We failed at a lot of basics in the field and with the ball that innings - could easily have been chasing 30-50 less. Just 10 would have got us over the line.

Other matches have not been so close that you could point to a couple of specific things and say that would've turned the outcome. But the Australia match was.

Last time England lost 3 matches yet became World Champs, so group stages don't matter lol

And no one remembers that Xyz team lost matches in group stages , they only remember who was the winner

I am backing NZ to win the world cup, u guys can continue to fade :walkman:

I'd be with you if I was confident we'd get a full match vs SL

Might be rained off
