Thoughts on Will Young's knock - good player and obv would like to see him succeed, but innings like today's just build the suspicion that he might not have a much higher ceiling at this level. I do wonder about this. Also the way he continually gives chances like today where he appears to misread the length - not sure how fixable that is.

However he's also still playing for his spot in the team and both the conversion to big scores, and the occasional ability to dominate an innings, may come in time.

Those were names I was not expecting to hear in a NZ vs Afghanistan match.

Looks like they all retired early, a bit surprising. Remember when NZ's batting stocks were so bad that Craig Cachopa aged about 24 was thought to be about the best prospect around?

Not quite 200 after 40 overs but we are still only 4 wickets down.

Time to lift the run rate now but that's easier said than done against some quality Afghan bowling.

Craig Cachopa averaged 60 odd for Auckland then collapsed when he moved to the Direbirds and couldn't play home games on the fabled Auckland pitches.

Then he went to England for a bit and came back very rotund.
