WORST australian fielder of all time

Probably a lot of from his era wouldn't go well today in the field, but Bert Ironmonger was known for being hopeless with the bat and in the field.

Yeah I assume that Bancroft being mentioned is a meme because he's a legit quality close in fielder.
He’s basically an excellent all round fielder

Harris is well below the standard required for international cricket and have no idea what’s going on with Renshaw

Stolen from the CW story on him:

His only shot was a swipe in the general direction of the covers, and AG ‘Johnny’ Moyes described his appearances with the bat as a gesture to convention.

although to be fair to Ironmonger he had always had a reasonably safe pair of hands. What he did lack was mobility, and he never ran very far, and when he did get moving he wasn’t too keen on bending down, and would habitually stop the ball with his boot.

Clearly ball tampering with his boot imo.

I’ve not seen worse than Mo Irfan. He made Munaf Patel look like Jonty Rhodes.

Whatever it takes!!!
For a serious answer, it has to be Zampa. Even the worst Aussie fielders were usually either decent to safe or at the least quick and athletic relatively speaking. Zampa is almost 90s-Indian-bowler-in- the- field levels bad.

Does it have to be guys who have played for the national team? There's been some shocking fielders in the bbl.

I recall reading that early 1950s spinner Jack Iverson was basically a non-fielder, matched only by his non-batting.

But he was such a destructive off-spinner -pivotal in winning an Ashes - that it didn't really matter.

Stoinis really embarrassed himself last night dropping that dolly. Great grandmother would of caught it most given days.
They're never that simple when they're that high imo

Like Maxwell's dismissal was a dolly catch. But we can get a bit spoilt thinking we'd snaffle up those high ones

They're not simple for amateurs for sure - god knows I struggled disproportionately with them - but for professionals they should be an absolute cakewalk. Sure everyone makes mistakes but not that many mistakes in a single game.

Lol when they go straight up that high and your fielding in the circle they come down vertical. Underrated catch if you take that in amateur cricket! But rarely see pros spill them.
