*Official* Match#7- England vs Bangladesh

I don’t think India has as many time zones as Aus, could be wrong though
It only has one time zone, Indian Standard Time. It's quite nuts. It is very dark in Kolkata, for instance, not long after 5pm from September onwards. Mumbai, which is about 1000 miles to the South West, usually stays light until 6:30pm well into December.

Yep, a fairly crazy situation. I've been to test matches in Mumbai and Chennai. They start them at 9:30. I think when England played at Kolkata in 2012, the match started at 9:00. You can possibly start the Southern tests at 10:00 and still have enough light come the evening.

I must admit I was worried when we swapped Moeen for Topley especially when our batting collapsed but looks like he proved me wrong with those 3 quick wickets.

Knocked he stuffing out of the Bangladesh top order.

Topley is the best bowler in this attack
was somewhat surprised he didn't play against the kiwis.

think England's tail is a bit long, not terrible but

vs NZL : LL 20 SC 14 CW 11 AR 15no MW 13no
vs BAN : LL 0 SC 11 CW 14 AR 11 MW 6no RT 1no

RT and CW the only bowlers thus far to take more than one (SC) wicket, think they should all be warming up in the eye line of the captain get a bowl, although with the (im)balance of the side which seems to be 5+ bowlers of whom some are bat-a-bits (and LL the reverse) they may well keep getting games and England have to hope the top order do the job and the bowlers justify their (continued) inclusion

your worries may have been exacerbated had Malan with support from Root and Bairstow not made for a big total, and it not been the deshis, the lower order as per my previous post hardly shining thus far - with bat or ball, said mentioned Topley aside who didn't play first game

Game won, now to fix the NRR
think they need to address the balance of the side, Woakes and Curran are handy with bat but not going to give you a lot of runs if ever needed ie batting a slot or three too high for this format, and probably any, AR, MW and RT not exactly going to give you more than a few runs, cameo maybe but they need to take wickets in some volume to compensate a lack of depth

to be fair the 2019 final side was Woakes, Plunkett, Archer, Rashid, Wood, as well Stokes was #5, and of course was in England so bit more favouring England with a strong(er) top order

Gotta feel for Rashid a bit. He's bowled pretty well today, Topley dropped an easy chance off him, had an lbw taken off by DRS too. On comes Livingstone and gets a wicket first ball.

Am I being an utter misery guts to say that I am wondering how useful Sam Curran is in this side in a similar manner to Moeen Ali? Not worth too many wickets and that we are likely overly-hyped batting ability to justify his selection? Good cricketer and a good t20 bowler but not so sure he's a 50 over cricket selection.

Think Moeen will be of greater use in this tournament than Sam

I think you have to pick 2 from 4 out of Moeen, Curran, Willey and Woakes. The pitch will probably tell us which 2 that should be.
