the problem is everyone wants to open in OD and T20 cricket, and so when marsh got that top order chance in T20 cricket, and actually ****ing scored important runs, he's now an top order option no matter what

That sounds roughly correct by the eyeball test.

NRR for England is like -2.1ish and Australia scored at 4 an over so india would need to go slightly above six an over to chase in order to have Australia go below England.

That’s if I understand NRR correctly which is a big if since it’s a bunch of nonsense.
