A rematch between the finalists at the last WC, opening game....and nobody except a few NZ and England fans and the groundsmans family show up.

Dreadfully embarrassing stuff, obviously tickets are way, way overpriced - or more likely 'cricket' as we know it is dead in India, and only T20 and India matches will draw anyone. When people said - and still say - that T20 will kill cricket this was exactly what they meant. Which is a tragedy because India was known for it's passion for cricket. T20 may be something that grew out of cricket but it isn't the genuinely fair contest between bat and ball that authentic cricket should be.
This isn't helped by the fact that the BCCI didn't release the final itinerary 2-3 months before the actual start of the WC and even then changed it a couple of times. It's caused a lot of uncertaintly, stress and financial losses for fans.

So has anyone commented on just how ridiculous this NZ XI is? Setting aside playing 3 specialist bowlers and having Santner batting at 9, Rachin at 3? I mean don't get me wrong, if he's playing that's where he should be batting. But Stead has spent the entire year mucking about with him at 7 or 8 in the order, before deciding to trial him at number 3 for the first time at the biggest event in the cricketing calendar.

The guy has no ****ing clue how to develop and promote talent. He's been coasting on the greatness of a handful of senior players and a couple of happy surprises.
