20 Greatest ODIs (by ESPNCricinfo)

It's funny there are probably 200 or 300 ODIs at least which would not be out of place on a list of great ODIs

but then they put the ABdV fast 100 game on there which is definitely not one of them
Yeah I said early in the thread that it'd be just be cricinfo clickbait fan service and people shouldn't get mad as if it's some sort of authoritative list that matters at all. As you said there are heaps you could make good cases for - which they decided to include is meh. I've enjoyed it for the write-ups of the games which have mostly been great. I don't care if good games miss out or games involving India are too high or whatever.

But even despite all that I was still mad about the de Villiers game getting in there. An awful game containing a good innings. Shouldn't be in a list of the top 200 ODIs.
It's also probably because they asked Moonda to pick an ODI for SA to put on the list and that was about how far her brain went.

Wasn't there more than one super over in that India series alone?

Just checked - there were two in a row, within a three-day period.
We're very good at not losing matches, I must say.

random ones i remember

remember the name

Yuvraj 11 off 21 in 2014

Yuvraj 6 6s

2007 bowl off

2007 final

2009 and 2010 finals

Hussey tearing Ajmal a new one

Wade against Pakistan in 2021

Bangladesh collapse against India 2016

Malinga 4 wickets in 1 over against NZ but idk if this was t20i

the super over shenanigans in NZ vs India jam t20 just few months after the 2019 odi final

Christian smoking Shakib in Mirpur

Pakbean 2022

Netherlands upsetting South Africa 2022
Ind vs Pak last year. The greatest t20 game ever. That the greatest t20 player ever played his best knock in that match is poetic justice.

If you were putting together a top 20 I suspect Brathwaite would probably be Number 1. It's ironic how we were told to remember the name and then he's basically done **** all since.

Others I'd throw in would be Netherlands beating England, the Hales/Buttler destruction of India, England chasing down 230 against SA.

It seems it's tough to remember games your own team didn't play in. And absolutely no idea outside of World Cups.
yeah some of those matches were because i watched them as an Indian fan, the super over one in particular. same reason why i didn’t mention the semi last year where our bowling got ripped to shreds by your openers lol, other ones i remembered were ones some individual great performance happened like Malinga, Hussey, Kieswetter in the final etc. Neesham and Mitchell in the 2021 semis was really cool too

i thought i had that included my bad, the Pakistani win in 2021 also arguably deserves to be there for the manner of the loss and it being the 1st Indian loss in a wc to Pakistan

Also India vs Aus in 2016 WT20 ( Kohli 82)
another worthy candidate that i somehow forgot this was a spectacular knock

interesting that in t20s a lot of matches we remember tend to feature great individual performances as the main reason while we criticise an odi picked on the same thing. shows the nature of those 2 formats i guess

A Group Stage match can’t top England vs West Indies 2016 Final. Also the greatest t20 player ever was in in that final.
Kohli is a better T20 player than Gayle. Match I can agree, I was being hyperbolic. Any SR advantage Gayle has in SR is overtaken by Kohli’s insanely higher average, and his Bradmanesque performances in the T20 WC.
