This is where I am. We had the same issue with DRS until the umpires became competent using it.Yeah. I don't have a problem with var in principle at all tbh. In fact I completely support its use. But the people operating it have to be competent, otherwise it completely defeats the point of having it in the first place.
However, I think the type of person who wants to be a football referee compared to a cricket umpire are very different. If you're willing to put up with constant abuse from fans, then you probably quite like being the centre of attention, and VAR has simply added another means of being that.
This was obviously a woeful decision (and what on earth was this refereeing team doing in Saudi Arabia on Thursday night is another question which needs answering), but it's funny that until Liverpool get a tough one, we're all kind of ok with it.
