Which is the Strongest World XI Ever Assembled?

Imagine being so thin skinned that an English fan pointing out and making fun of the global nature of their own side triggers you so hard that you actually slide straight into racism.

Anyhow, in the true spirit of OP, while the 2005 side was awesome on paper it was dog turd in real life, so going to give it to those WSC World XIs, especially when the West Indians played for them.

Interesting as the discussion is, what it mainly does is annoy me all over again for the thousandth time that the 1970 and 1971/72 series' don't count as Test matches but the one-off match in 2005 that no one cared about does. Either they all count, or none of them do.
Yeah I get why WSC doesn’t count, but if the 2005 series counts then those should too. If anything those were closer to real Tests than the Super Series.

I apologise to the race of England

have to poach from all over the world to get a competitive team because their genetics are so bad
Australia inherited their good sporting genes pre 2010 from us.
They are starting to wear off now as you can see with their rugby olympics tennis ect efforts recently.

Not made up of XI legends. Can replace 2 or even 3 players with theoretically better options.
But as a team this West Indies XI that took the field at The Oval for the fifth test against England between August 09 - 14, 1984 looked absolutely unbeatable. And it was unbeatable.

Greenidge - Haynes - Richards - Lloyd - Dujon - Marshall - Holding - Garner could form the spine of any ATG XI.

Gordon Greenidge
Desmond Haynes
Larry Gomes
Viv Richards
Clive Lloyd (c)
Jeff Dujon †
Eldine Baptiste
Malcolm Marshall
Roger Harper
Michael Holding
Joel Garner

I'll argue for the WI side that won the second and third tests in Australia in 1979/80.
Greenidge, Haynes, Richards, Kallicheran, Rowe, Lloyd, Murray, Roberts, Garner, Holding and Croft.

Lloyd closer to his peak, probably Richards and Holding too. Croft better than Baptiste. Roberts vs Marshall very close at that stage of Roberts' career. And winning 2-0 (out of 3) against a decent Australian side in Australia trumps even 5-0 against the 1984 SA-weakened England side imo.

Anyway, that's the argument. Others may differ, and fair enough.

There has been several lineups of world players assembled in modern cricket history, but which would be the strongest in terms of actual team play?
The 87 MCC vs ROW game
Not the greatest combination ever, but a decent excuse to post this piece of fielding from Roger Harper, in case anyone here hasn't seen it.

Yeah we just spoke about this the other week. Completely agree.

The next time I have time to update the standardised averages (which have always just taken a "none of them count" approach) I'm also going to publish a separate list also incorporating all World XI Tests and WSC SuperTests, just for anyone's interest. The second list will no doubt falsely claim Lillee > Hoggard but we can ignore that as a flaw of the system.

I dont think it's genetic. They shipped the bottom rung of their society off to Australia and we ended up better in every way.

Living in a cold, gloomy hell-hole where you sustain yourself off "fish n chips" and inbreed so much your average population member has three fingers, four rotten, yellow teeth and decreped features will do that too you.

Bro these are exactly the factors that can infulence genetic degradation over generations. It can happen that quickly too
