Are Cricket World Cup Squads too small ?

Every Cricket World Cup , there appears to be players that miss out not because they aren't good enough, but because only a fixed amount of players can travel to a World Cup , these players chosen can only be replaced if they get injured by players outside the selected group..

If it were up to you , what would your ideal WC squad size be ?

i'd prefer 16 with one of the spots being a back-up keeper, but we probably can't mandate a back-up keeper like how soccer can mandate three keepers in their WC squads

15 is definitely pushing the boundary of "too small", if not outright crossing it. A couple more players in the squad would be better I think.

I think for a WC where each team has a guaranteed 9 games, it should be 18

15 seems way to small to me. Okay maybe we don’t need 2 per position like football given a batsman can usually fill multiple positions but you want the best teams out there and to me it seems we are limiting it overly.

I’d personally go 22 even despite the point above but 18 would be fine.

Should be at least 20 if not 22. No point in handicapping squads and then having squad level players on standby in reserves. Just put them all together and pay for it.

I kind of like the novelty of teams having to figure out how to balance their squads ahead of time, but yeah it doesn't really make any sense to limit it to 15 for nine games plus finals when most teams take squads of 17 just for JAMODI series of 3-5 games. I think 17/18 would be a good balance.

Yeah I'm sure teams will take extras and use them in the nets etc so they're ready to go if someone has to be replaced due to injury.

I know I just said 17/18 would be best but having teams take their full 30 man provisional squads and organising extra games against other countries for unselected squad players during the tournament would be kinda fun.

18 the number imo. Allows countries to take at least 1x young player mainly for the experience, and still have enough back ups in case of injury/poor form etc
