If he's been crap for so long, why is he still getting picked? Is there a chance he gets dropped before India?

I was going to mention this too. I'm struggling to think of anything he'll be remembered for this year, although Stuart Broad may have an idea.

Seriously though, when did he last make a score of note? His form since a certain event has been woeful, has it preyed on his mind?
Got runs in the WTC final and made a 50 in the first innings of the 1st ashes test, although got dropped a few times. Either side of that he's had a bit of a lean run.

No lol. Literally no clear thinking human has any issue with the non-incident. He's been pretty bad since before the Indian tour, well before the Ashes
He was really good before the india tour wasn't he? Made that 100 vs SA in the boxing day test and did well outside of that from memory.

I don't think where's better replacement for Carey might have to just keep him In the side for now.

He was really good for like a year since the Pakistan tour I think but he's got to be on notice now. There's got to be potential for Inglis to usurp him either before or even during the WC if he doesn't get better

He wasn't really batting that well before then. His keeping has been very good for the most part though, save the 5th Ashes test. The contrast between he and Bairstow's keeping early on was not lost on most posters here.

He needs to fall into a pool in Pakistan again to get his form back.

Inglis' keeping is barely schoolboy level. Woeful Tory bootlicker he is.

Your 100% right. Hopefully Inglis and Carey both get some games and we bin off stoinis. The fact that Matt short is currently playing got AUS-A while David gets to slot in to the #7 maxwell role for the WC feels fairly disrespectful, on a completely unrelated note. David doesn't even have a domestic contract while short is coming off a beastly all format summer and is a much better like-for-like for maxwell.

David is the biggest fraud on planet earth

True, but by the end of the series Bairstow had well and truly won the keeper contest (even if he'd probably lost England the First Test).

I just can't recall him making any runs of note when his team needed him for ages. Both the 1st and 3rd ODI's here he had an opportunity and failed both times.

If you think bairstow kept better than Carey by the end of that series you need your eyes checked homie.

How? Bairstow took one decent catch all series. His keeping was genuinely terrible until the 5th test. He kept in Braille for 4/5ths of the series

I assume he means because Bairstow made more runs. But even then he's not "winning" overall. He would have had to make 800 runs for the series to make up for his keeping

Wasn't just talking about keeping, the Number 7 spot then. His keeping was good from the 3rd Test onwards and excellent by the end. Carey got 200 runs at 22, Bairstow 322 at 40.

Are you suggesting you'd want Carey over a fully fit (which he clearly wasn't at the start of the series) Bairstow?

Yeah, fully aware he cost us the First Test. But you're telling me you'd take Carey over a fully fit Bairstow?
