Tendulkar looked really comfortable against pace and it was rare that he looked troubled. I think he dealt with bounce surprisingly well considering his height.

Now was that so hard....lol lol
To be fair you're the one who derailed the thread to debate a different question to the one which was asked, so you could have it both ways and not just say Tendulkar was ahead of your man on this one.

I see that there's now a thread to ask the question you're answering here. I wonder if in that one you'll mention Tendulkar's superiority against pace to balance it out?

Sooo I went a little off topic. Big deal. We all have done that at one point or another. Atleast it was still Sachin and Lara.

Based on what dismissals? And even if that were legitimate, Lara dominated Murali in his own back yard and blasted Warne out of Australia's attack way back in 1992-93 after he'd spun Australia to victory in the test prior with a 7 for. Warne is very very lucky, that anytime he faced Brian since then, he had the backing of a certain Glenn McGrath aka Lara's nemesis.

Nobody is underrating him vs spin. But Lara was the slightly better player vs spin. Just as Sachin is slightly better vs raw pace (based solely on results not aesthetics).
Yea but you said no question, which is wrong. It was close enough.

This is what I originally said:

"Neither. I'd much prefer Ponting, Viv or S Waugh vs real pace. But between these two, Sachin is marginally better. Sachin did look more comfortable but contrary to popular belief, he didn't make more runs vs the Ws and Donald than Lara. But he did score hundreds vs all 3 so there's that. And Sachin did do well vs Steyn; a bowler Lara never faced.

Vs McGrath/Pollock level pace: Lara all day. Spin?? Lol Lara no contest." How is that derailing a thread?? Smh.

Really? I already said it's close. Afaic the gap between the two vs pace is similar to the gap between the two vs spin. Sachin slightly better vs pace and Lara slightly better vs spin.

I mean the original post you made about it, hence the debate…

Did Lara really dominate Warne more than Sachin though?
He didn't but Lara dominated Murali to a much greater extent than Sachin did to Warne. Lara dominated Murali in SL when Vaas was also on fire. Sachin dominated Warne with Gavin Robertson at the other end. Not the same.

nah sachin dominated warne with mcgrath, gillespie etc also playing. smashing the world's best leg spinner out of the rough repeatedly on the leg side was insane

btw as a lara fan i am happy about lara being better here in this argument but both were equally good in their own way imo

as an indian fan who watched sachin live more than lara in tests, this might just be my own ignorance
