Yeah he's definitely been the guy to advance his claims the most. His modest success as an opener would also give the selectors greater confidence that he could slot in at 6 or 7 in the national side and do a job.

Wow, we won again! Although now I see Kuhneman was at 9 that must've been a very weak tail.
Dwaushius was meant to bat 9 and he's a bowling allrounder so the tail was fine on paper when selected - he even made a 50 first dig - but he got injured bowling in the third innings so came out at 11.

I’m definitely gonna claim to have discovered O’Rourke because of that one time I was drunk posting at EPOO a couple of years ago

It was impressive the way Sean Solia chipped in every time, with bat or ball throughout both matches.
I'm going to do the biggest thing I can do for his career, the same I did for Wags/Santner/CdG etc, and declare I just can't see him as an international player. Hell, I remember when he was a club player, he was a decent performer but never stood out. My reason in saying that is he's obviously worked incredibly hard to get to where he is, with what I'd say at that time was 'limited' talent. I would never have picked him 10-12 years on to be in international consideration

Not Terrible
I've always quietly thought Solia would be one of those guys that gets a handful of limited overs games in his 30s for NZ.

But I reckon he will actually end up doing better than that now.

Yeah, he'd have to be a bit above the Anaru Kitchen sort of level now. Really impressed with the progress he's made.

Nah. I posted an 'ooohed and aaahed' post on first watch in domestic U19 tournament.

Think he played in first year they ever released video of the U19s. So was with a caveat of not knowing what 'was impressive' for an U19 plus a 'bowling towards camera end' caveat.

When these last few old-mans-beard NZ A squads have been named. If I didn't post it, I was internally, most perplexed/dismissive of Sean Solia's selections.

So, I'll eat my hat on that.

Probably exacerbated by my brain not yet registering him yet as a serious opener. Which is a bit weird as in a lot of my nz fandom days I've wrongly overenthusiastically backed a lot of failed role converters. (Obviously impressioned by the more successful conversions of Dipak, B Young, Larsen etc from my formative youth)

Well played again NZ C team albeit the low quality opposition. Still lots to like about some of those NZ player performances, especially in foreign conditions.

Good performances but AB Oval & Mackay are pretty slow and nothing like the Gabba (tbf only a couple of Queensland pitches are)

Yeah, Daryl Mitchell has a similar bowling record at first-class level and has taken 3 wickets in 18 test matches. I just don't see it.

O'Rourke looks like a talent though.
