20 Greatest ODIs (by ESPNCricinfo)

People are reading way too much into it IMO. I don't agree with that entry but it doesn't mean they've set some unbreakable legal precedent that the rest of the list has to follow. It's just going to be inconsistent because it's flippant cricinfo clickbait.
It's a cricket forum full of cricket nerds, what's the point of existence if we can't go overboard about flippant, Cricinfo clickbait?

Ireland beating England in the 2011 world cup with Kevin O'Brien going berserk a good shout tbh
It would be funny if it's not there given it's got so much more importance to ODI history than Kohli's knock in a random Aussie series.

That was basically a milestone chase in the career of the greatest chaser in ODI history(and that by a fair distance). I wouldn’t personally have it in my top 20, but from the perspective of it being one of the two greatest knocks in an ODI chase ever(either this or 183), it certainly doesn’t count as a random Kohli knock in an Aussie series.

I mean if where going off individual performances in a chase, surely bas de leede making 123(92) (not even mentioning him taking 5fer) to get netherlands into a WC is better than kohli in a random bilateral tournament.

Quality of opposition, and how much Ind were chasing. Plus from a sort of historical point of view, cause Kohli’s a key player in ODI history. Plus I’m only talking from a batting perspective.

so you’re saying that the innings that heralded the rise of one of the top three ODI batsman of all time was less important than England losing to a better team in the group stages of a World Cup?

yes - that’s exactly what we’re saying

Just spat some lunch out!! Seriously??? It was a largely random ODI (probably played in front of a half full ground) where the situation forced the style of play. A decent innings yes, but hardly qualifies it for Top 20 ODI's of all time.

O Brien's knock was a momentous one for Associate Cricket and in a World Cup too.

O'Brien's knock wasnt played in front of a packed house either. Also why does the bolded part matter. The fact that it had to be done in 40 overs raised the difficulty level even more. These are stupid reasons. It was a much more than "decent" innings.

Sham that it isn't in the top 5. **** other countries they're less important and jealous of India. Bharat mata ki jai

Bopara batting 8 and not bowling only for it to pay off and win the game, KP bowling a solitary over and getting Sachin out in it. That had it all.

Haha I love how much of a Test team this is that England picked. Especially the bowling attack.
Haha tbf it's slightly more of one in hindsight. Broad and Bopara were I think yet to debut in the long form, Anderson was not a fixture. Don't think Freddie played any Tests that summer though I'd have to check.

But actually the fact they hadn't debuted but soon had kind of makes the point more. It was the Test match training team basically

Great innings maybe, great match no.

Who are the other two?
