Auckland has a tropical climate
This is news to the Tropic of Capricorn, which lies 1,495kms to Auckland's north.

I find in Aus the water is warmer in the southern parts in Autumn than it is in Summer. Is this the case in NZ too? It might be just an impression I get from the air temp being lower at that time than in December-Feb though

Weather here is great atm - 26 & not a cloud in the sky

I have just been for a swim in the ocean but don’t know whether I would be doing that in Auckland in March
Mostly 22 to 24 in March this year (Auckland has had horrendous weather this year).

2022 must've been unusually hot, 20 days in March were between 25 and 29.

So yeah, we're basically Brisbane I guess.

Brisbane is much further north and generally hotter/more humid

Auckland is more comparable to Sydney

Funnily enough I just compared Sydney to Brisbane for March this year and all of the hottest days were in Sydney (several mid 30s+ and even a 41). Climate change doing some crazy stuff.

But yeah I don’t literally think Auckland is anything like Brisbane lol, just that the comparison of winter Brisbane to March Auckland isn’t too far fetched given Auckland tends to be warmer in late summer + has been getting warmer generally in recent years

NZ climate is largely ‘oceanic’ with Northland (everything above Auckland) being subtropical, so Auckland is somewhere in between. This isn’t some sort of conspiracy lol. Why are y’all arguing as if anyone seriously thinks Auckland and Brisbane have a similar climate.

You usually find the more extreme temperatures in the southern cities and more inland. In the SE it tends to be a very dry heat. Far less oppressive that less extreme humid heat, but there's a particularly evil feeling of a hot windy day with <8% humidity. Those are the days that produce the big fast-moving fires.

Nah I wasn't saying it's a conspiracy. Auckland’s Köppen classification is oceanic. For some reason NIWA uses a less standard definition.

Yeah most of NZ is temperate/maritime. Northland/Bay of Islands is subtropical, and Central Otago/inland Canterbury is continental

Sydney marginally taller though IIRC .

My favourite part of A threads is when a team looks to be losing so all the fans start saying it's not the real A team.

We all do it. Both countries did it this game.

I live in a beach town and yeah, the water in March and April is definitely warmer than December. Or as you say, it feels so.

Only soft bastards don't swim all year round.

I think the worst part is, we beat Aussie A which would usually send us into raptures ..but honestly, is there a single thing to be excited about other than the result? Runs from Solia and Bruce who are unlikely to ever play for NZ, and Kuggleijn who hardly any of us rate as a international cricketer before you factor in the other stuff.

Theres only 1 potential future 'stayer' in the NZ 11 and he scored a 50 and he's as green as f$%k. I thought that was quite significant. Especially as he was looking down the barrel of a K Rud(ish) beginning to his introduction to the higher levels.

I always say it at the start just in case

But fr in this case it was especially true. Like it wasn't like it was just 2 or 3 players missing from what the A side would be. There were players that barely even make their state teams playing

Yeah I know. A teams are often pure chaos, with selectors either being punishingly boring or very optimistic, and year round international cricket means half a dozen true reserves are with the national side.

Still good to have these tours though, and expose players to a new challenge rather than the same faces and sometimes at a much higher level.
