Sad he didn't get the century. He's an interesting one as he was an allrounder batting 6 or 7 for Auckland, until their chronic lack of an opener led to Solia taking it up. First season was absolutely awful. But had a little more success in the last two seasons and scored a couple of centuries. The medium pace is very NZ-dobbly stuff, though seems to have the wicket-taking knack.

I have no idea what format and where in the order he might fit into an NZ side, but has enough about him (plus the mullet) to be trialed in A cricket anyway.
Think he's a pretty likely candidate for the number 7 spot when Steady decides Macewell's pies are ill suited to a Hagley Greentop.

Far easier just to pick one or two of Rachin, G Phillips, and Foxcroft in the top 7 with 4 specialist seamers though.

Solia is an interesting case however. Murphy Su'a and Rosco are the only Samoans to play for NZ so if Solia makes it he'd be the 3rd.

This performance from Kuggeleijn defies logic.

He's been terrible in Plunket Shield (28 @ 38.93 in the last 3 seasons), yet put him in front of some Aussies & he finds a way to perform (14 wkts in the 3 A matches so far this year @ 23.29). I don't get it.

Phillips is probably next-in-line there. I don't know who Solia would come in for, Mitchell?

He’s the sort of bloke who immediately commands respect from Australians. Why do you think Ben Stokes goes so good in the Ashes?

Would have to be the best New Zealand ‘A’ performance I’ve ever seen. Against Australia to boot. Should give him a deserved run in the national team especially over a decrepit Wagner

I still don't understand the performance from Kuggeleijn. This is a guy who can't take wickets to save himself in Plunket Shield, who got BazBalled to oblivion on Test debut, yet put him in front of some Aussies & he puts them to the sword. Is this what Stead &co see in him?
