Yeah he did, he even made a FC 50 and a couple of Test 20s, but when he first started playing Tests he was truly clueless. Worse than Martin in the first half of his career IMO.
Ahh I see. Must say the only thing I really recall about his batting is him getting McCullum'd that time.

Will certainly be trying to find a bit of footage on youtube sometime soon

"We need to see more of Josh Philippe with the gloves at FC level"

No, we really don't. If anything I would say the complete opposite, should give up wicketkeeping entirely to try and focus on his batting imo

Philippe's FC batting is a big let down. Had 6 months where he looked like he'd figured it out last year for Aus-A and WA and now he's back to being clueless.

Yeah, without a doubt. I'm not even 100% sure he would be in a full strength WA side as it is. If it is ever going to happen for him at FC level it really needs start happening soonish, otherwise it's probably white ball only for him before too long

Still think giving up the gloves would definitely help though

He's been their first choice keeper hasn't he? with Whiteman playing as a bat

No way he makes it into a full strength WA side, not even a question

1.Whiteman
2.Bancroft
3.Wyllie
4.Green
5.Marsh
6.Hardie/Inglis
7.Inglis/Agar

No Hilton, turner, or stoinis in this side, who all played last season and did well. Feel like I'm forgetting someone aswell. WA are stacked for depth. Even if marsh, hardie, Inglis, and green are all away on test duty, I'm not sure Phillipe plays as a specialist bat. He needs to be keeping.

Are we really putting Wyllie in a full strength WA team? Let's be honest he's playing on youth and potential, if you had to win a one-off game to save the world I'm not picking him ahead of Turner. Or even Philippe or D'arcy Short tbh. Probably a few others I'm not remembering

edit: Also former Test batsman Hilton Cartwright and promising youngster Shaun Marsh

Those guys are probably better, but there #5/6's traditionally. Even Hilton hasn't batted above 4. Willie's the only guy who's shown any willingness to bat 3 in redball for WA once promising youngster Shaun marsh funked off.

It's not like he's done really well at no. 3 though. I'd still back these traditionally #5/6 guys over him

Cartwright batted three a little bit a while ago after his Test debut. It didn't work, but he did do it. That was the season of the bowled meme.

Cartwright getting bowled was a great meme, he really needs to bring that back.

Seems like bowlers have really pinpointed an issue with Cartwright's technique. He'd had seven innings so far this season and been bowled or lbw in six of them. A real case of the Wattos.
He got bowled in both those ODIs he played as well.
Yeah at least Watto managed to get his pad in the way. I didn't actually count them separately because I figured it was more or less the same technical fault, but I think Cartwright has actually been bowled this season even more times than he's been lbw in the split.
Cartwright bowled again.

Hmm
Haha oh man. I rate Cartwright but seriously, 7/8 innings bowled or lbw, FMD.
Cartwright bowled again
Hilton Cartwright County Watch:
2 innings, 2 bowled dismissals
