Will ATG XI games be low scoring or high scoring affairs?

Obviously it will vary between certain pitches/countries.

If we had all time XI’s from each team play against each others for 10 years it’d probably be regarded as a difficult time for batting. The again, idk if it would be described as bowler friendly, I wouldn’t expect the bowlers or batsmen to be matching their actual career performance.

The ones to have the best performances would likely be the keepers.

Generally low but certain pitches just can't help themselves but to be flat and produce runs galore: the ARG, and the Oval come to mind.

Generally high. ATG batsmen all in a lineup together can put pressure on even the greatest bowlers. Think 2000s Australia. Next man up always just seamlessly plugs in and gets to scoring runs alongside the other ATG, and there's never anyone to target ( a tactic that great bowlers often rely upon ).

Interestingly, this would put even more emphasis on the role of the most transcendent bowlers, and any magic spell picking up multiple key wickets is worth it's weight in gold, as opposed to being just a normal occurrence.

In baseball, the highest quality games are low scoring. There is a premium on the pitching skill, that if it's world beatingly good enough, it overcomes everything other than luck.

In cricket, my hunch is it's the opposite. On a decent enough pitch, the best bowlers have to get a bit of luck to take out a truly special batsman, in nick. These sides are stacked with them.

Actually, that's not even a hunch. Matches between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are generally lower scoring than those between the top tier Test sides.

I can't see why they would be different to normal Test matches
Difference being that in a normal test match, an ATG bowler usually doesn't have three other bowlers of similar quality to rely on to get wickets. They can just keep rotating every few overs while the bats won't get a weak bowler to cash in on.

Please reply to this argument.

Probably a bit higher, if it were regularly happening enough for an effect to come through. Cricket is generally pretty low scoring at the levels below first class, so if you extrapolate upwards you probably get higher scoring games.

If we're talking about one match or series though, that's not relevant.

You could say the exact same about the batsmen which should even it out

I believe definitely low scoring.

Over the history of the game, I believe that great bowling has impacted great batsmen more than the other way round. Especially the faster guys. And hunting in packs like this, seriously believe that these games will be low scoring affairs
