Yeah it's a fair point. Or if it's in that 15 minute period where it looked she might win the game on her own.And I think that's where her fitness issues come in. I reckon she scores that if it's in the first hour or so.

C’mon buddyShe didn't sky it did she? She sliced it a little and it went a foot wide. A marginally better connection and it's top corner.
Are you seriously calling the first one a point blank open goalC’mon buddy
She’s one of the highest profile female footballers in the world
Messi, Ronaldo, etc would be hammered for that performance
She missed 2 * point blank open goals
Oh yeah, hence my disclaimer. She didn't sky it did she? She sliced it a little and it went a foot wide. A marginally better connection and it's top corner.
Obviously though a player of Kerr's talent and given the sorts of goals she's capable of she should be burying it, but it's still not "why we lost" compared to the horrendous defending basically all night.
True but in the reverse, one moment like Carpenter's can undo any amount of brilliance at the other end. You don't win big knockout games throwing errors like that in no matter how stacked you are going forward (as Argentina almost found out to their disaster last year)Oh yeah, hence my disclaimer.
But it was one of "those" moments (and as an English footy fan I know all too well what they feel like); genuinely thought it was 2-2 when it fell to her. The high premium football has on goals means means a moment of brilliance can counter a half (or two) of collectively ploppy defending.
They both wereAre you seriously calling the first one a point blank open goal
You have to be lobotomised to think the first chance was remotely straightforward let alone an open goal given that she wasn't even facing the goalThey both were
yeah we’re okay over here chief. Good achievement for the girls, will be even better with a 3rd place finishWell done England, good win in enemy territory. Australia just weren't good enough and were outplayed on the night. England just better. Australia is certainly quiet at the moment lol

Ah yes the "lol" when you know you don't have a leg to stand on because you have no idea what you're talking about when you call a chance that required a glanced finessed header behind you when you don't have sight of goal "an open goal".lol
Kerr is a really good player but there’s a reason why every single expert agrees with me
It’s fkn obvious
Great goal
Horrific efficiency
Honestly most amateurs are probably heading that away from goal if they get any contact on it at all, let alone doing what Kerr did.I want to see social try to score that. 95% chance he'd fail to make contact with the ball.
Footy thread regulars will know that non-footballers thinking headed chances are easy is a gear-grinder for me.

I'm not bagging on you for being bad at football. It's just that you so obviously have no idea what's hard and what isn't. There are chances professional footballers miss sometimes that are genuinely easy. But nobody in the world is good enough to score that chance even 50% of the time, and if you'd ever tried to do it you would immediately understand why.I am not a footballer
She’s being paid millions a year to convert those chances and failed on the biggest stage
