As much as I like Rammers, I'd really love me some David Raya

Long shot I know but any Kiwis know anything about Max Mata as he is signing for Shrewsbury and we all hope he is better than Kris Bright who was also a Kiwi International who was utter dogs hit.

good keeper, but it's a sideways move at best imo. Ramsdale is a good enough keeper to challenge/maybe win the league

Advanced stats/analytics dudes have Raya as better than Rammers at pretty much everything. Eye test wise I still far go for Raya too but agree that it isn't the most pressing need at this point

Yeah I suspect he is better than Ramsdale as well tbh, but Ramsdale was still one of Arsenal's best players last year and there is no glaring need for an upgrade. Depth in other areas would probably be my priority.

Mind you, that said, with the signings made already this summer all of a sudden Arsenal have quite a lot of depth in most positions now I suppose.

Find it funny how many pundits and Arsenal fans put Ramsdale forward as keeper of the season last year and were entertaining conversations of him being amongst the best in the world.

Raya is very good (not world class) but the fact Arteta is going after him (despite Ramsdale having a great season) shows just how many levels off the top Ramsdale actually is.

I don't quite get it, myself. If I was going to find fault with Ramsdale it would be that he's maybe not the tallest keeper, but he's taller (and younger) than Raya.

But surely we aren't spending £40m on a #2 keeper? & why would Raya come if he's playing second fiddle?

I must be the only one who doesn't rate Raya. Huge errors in front of you at League 1 level stick and he **** himself every time a ball was crossed in that day and was at fault for our equaliser when he totally bottled it. Good shotstopper and good with his feet but is dracula.

Guess nobody in top flight plays that way now though.

Most Premiership teams seem it surplus to requirements to startup-front with a player like Ryan Bowman regrettably.

That must have been years ago? He has the occasional issue with it the first season with us but has not been a problem at all since.
