Modern Fab 3 (or 4).

Which one of Kallis, Pollock, Cairns, and Flintoff don't make your 97-05 Fab 3?
lol, it was Kallis actually that I wasn't thinking of ... Was thinking of the similar 3 bowling allrounders.

But, actually, make sit even weirder how little fanfare there was over 4 great seam bowling allrounders being on the scene at the same time.

needs to be full decade based, or all 4 must come from 4 different countries?

Flintoff was decidedly meh until the point Cairns retired.

Something from my old excel sheets, that i figured would come to interest on this topic. I call it Cricket’s Future 5, a feature of the top 5 icon batsmen from every era

Chapell's team was the best in the world in the mid 70s. He played alongside Chapelli, Walters and Redpath as well as a great bowling attack.

De Villiers most certainly did not have a knack for grinding runs and runs.

Miandad didn't have a precipitous decline either. He still averaged 45 in his last 4 years.

Gower was pretty far from a grinder too. Just saw Root is in that row too. Also Tendulkar lol.

Just an atrocious list.

miandad averaged 34 in his last 4 years, at least get that right. Thats a big decline, which made his average go from 57 to 52. not sure what your grumpy old ass is throwing fits for.

chappells team was not the best team in the world, West Indies and England were much much ahead, they were par with pak who had imran and miandad etc in the 70s or slightly below them. Those 3 batsmen you named, didnt do anything in odis which chappell carried and even in tests were 42ish avg bats. Respectable but thats really not the greatest support out there. Dont be a biased nostalgia uncle because those stats are comparable to someone like Saleem Malik if that is what you reckon is a consistent support out there in comparision to other great batsmen of that era

All this De Villiers t20 stints has probably made you forget that he doesnt actually just start throwing his bat around 360 in tests. He played at a SR of 55 while the average kept increasing by the year. He had a knack.

Your last line sounds like it a troll or either your grumpiness is getting to you due to aging, because Sachin is the leading run scorer of all time and Root is someone who is on course of breaking that, how you refute they didnt have a hunger for runs is just absurd
