Meaningless and stupid cricket statistics

He compares a batters average vs the top 7 (both opponents and teammates) in tests they played. This number is compared against the complete average of top 7 batters since WWII. (36.44). Some examples from his top 15 (min 3k runs)
Bradman (1) overall 7 average in his tests = 39.7 - therefore adjusted down to 91.71
Smith (3) overall top 7 average in his tests = 36.6 (almost identical to the 36.44) therefore adjusted only to 58.69 from 58.95
May (5) overall top 7 average in his tests = 30.0 (in fact the lowest of all batsman to score 3k runs according to his data - J.R Reid has 30.6, Trumper/Hill are in the 31 range) therefore his average is adjusted a whopping amount - from 46.77 to 56.85
England's bowling was pretty strong (or at least successful) at the time: in matches when May was playing, Statham, Laker, Trueman and Lock each took 100+ wickets at under 23 (at 17.7 for Laker); Wardle, Tyson and Bedser all took 50+ wickets at under 19; Loader took 39@22.5 and Appleyard 31@17.8. Bailey (87@28.4) was the only other bowler with 20+ wickets.
Meanwhile, the batting wasn't as strong - besides May, they had various famous names (Hutton & Compton early on, Cowdrey, Barrington, Dexter later on), but they were mostly either past/hadn't reached their peak respectively (or the pitches were just harder to score on in the 50s).
Plus they usually had Bailey (av 27) and Evans (av 19) batting in the top 7.

"India's top 7 batters in the 2000's shouldn't be penalised for all being so good".
From 1996-2010 India's top 7 had the 2nd best average. But their bowlers had the 4th worst average. Heavily suggesting these averages were built on very good conditions.

All dem great batsmen Tendulkar, Ponting, Kallis, Sanga, Dravid never averaged above 60 in their careers outside of their first 2 matches. Closest was Ponting at 59.99 in 06.
Lara however did, twice, once for a single test in 94 after his 375, and once for 3 tests after his 152 in England in 96.

No. of man of the match awards. Many times they are just given to the highest scorers from winning team which doesn't always adequately reflect their contribution to the win.

Random facts (as far as) I know of regarding centuries in each innings.
Grant and Andy Flower are the only brothers to do this. Andy Flower did his batting from 5 in both innings, dunno if anyone can beat that.
Jack Russell interestingly scored his double opening in the first innings and batting from 6 in the second innings. Perhaps a gamble ala Bradman reversing the batting order?
