Why is every meme on the Internet suddenly a Simpsons parody?

This has never happened in the history of the Internet. Ever. Even before the Internet was on computers.

"Yes, I have seen a clip from earlier in the match when in his guise as wicketkeeper, Jonny himself threw the ball at the stumps. But that was because Marnus Labuschagne was batting outside of his crease -- in doing so, attempting to take the lbw out of the game. In other words, seeking an advantage," Broad wrote. "Clips of Colin de Grandhomme being run out in the Lord's Test last year have done the rounds, too, and that is just the most ludicrous comparison ever, because he got hit on the pad coming down the pitch, was searching for a run and Ollie Pope threw down the stumps from gully. Again, trying to gain an advantage.

"With regards to the Jonny incident, zero advantage was being taken there: he let the ball go, scratched his mark within the crease, and acknowledging it as the end of the over, went to speak to Ben Stokes. And if you look at the footage of when the stumps were broken, one umpire has got the bowler's cap in his hand, the other is head down, walking in from square leg -- actions that suggest they too thought the over had finished.
Can't really see footage of what the umps were doing. If the ump was indeed about to hand the cap back or whatever should it be a dead ball? Afaik as long as the bowler's end umpire is clear it's dead then it doesn't really matter what anyone else does.

Lol the mods should probably hide that, could get awkward if someone found it.
This exact post came up in the past in the mod forum. @Prince EWS might recall better, but I think the consensus was Jimmy knows he posted here, he can make a request to have his posts culled. In fact he did ask for a thread to be deleted when he was making a name for himself and James obliged.

Neesh on McCullum:

"This isn't my opinion as I've never met the guy. But the subject has come up a lot while talking to people who have worked with him. He's generally regarded as an arrogant, self-obsessed dickhead. When I say generally, I mean that not one person has had a contrasting opinion."

Who's Neesh? Not Jimmy Neesham who was a friend and teammate of mccullum

All the things Broad says about the other examples are correct. Bairstow was still out though.

Poor Jimmy, posting on here as a teenager who is talented at cricket is a decision he probably cringes at.

McCullum is 40 odd so he's probably grown up and we're dragging him for ancient history, but he did that punishing youtube gambling ad and should be dragged for it forever lol.

Speaking of, we don't call out Stacey Jones enough for promoting shady loan companies, especially given where the team he played for is based.
Jimmy has always had a big mouth, and he was a teenager. You can forgive some misguided actions, which is why I thought the whole Ollie Robinson twitter furore was one of the most unjust and ridiculous suspensions I'd ever heard of. Then it gets brought up again because he yelled **** off at someone who got a hundred, who happened to be Muslim. Ridiculous.

This sort of holier than thou sanctimonious BS is exactly why I dislike hypocrisy and why Bairstow, McCullum et al are (or should be) learning a valuable lesson. Judge others if you like, but the more empathetic way and reasoned way to look at it is to put yourself in their shoes and figure out if you either had, or would've done the same. McCullum, Broad, Bairstow and others failed that test and have been mercilessly exposed.

As for the Stacey Jones thing, I have been horrified about that for years. I consider it a black spot on him as a person and I cannot fathom how he allows himself to be involved, unless he truly doesn't know how damaging loan sharks are.

"It was within the rules, it was technically out. If you're happy with that, then fine.

"If you're not, I don't think you can [criticise] other people who play the game slightly differently."

Direct quote from Joe Root this week. Which is exactly right, and what I said above. Says it all to me. You play the way you choose, and let others find their own North star.

"To Alex Carey, I said: 'This is what you'll be remembered for, and that's such a shame.' It may have been a bit silly, but I also shouted 'in' every time I crossed the line. It annoyed the Australians for maybe half-an-hour, although after two-and-a-half hours, they were probably a bit bored of it.
