Milne bowling simply too quickly for the tail ender and hitting the stumps is something that should have happened many times in theory, but doesn't. That was nice though.

And again. Who is this new Adam Milne that knocks over the tail like a fast bowler is supposed to.

Credit where it's due - good innings from Seifert. But I'm still not a fan of his recall.

i know we have baffling selection after baffling selection but how tom latham is playing t20s for nz IN NZ is beyond me

if we were sending a 3rd tier t20 team to the subc (bd 2021) then i understand but wow just wtf

I assume selector's highest priority is building towards the ODI World Cup in India Oct Nov 2023, means some unusual selections for current season T20I (and test team e.g. M Bracewell).

In Latham's case he will be in the World Cup ODI squad, is captain for ODI tour to Pakistan, so not much sense to leave him out of the T20I squad and find a short term T20I specialist captain (Mitchell? Bruce?) outside the usual captains Kane / Southee / Santner / Latham.

Tom Latham is underrated in T20s IMO, he often performs really well in Super Smash games, and you can see he actually has a good attacking mindset in some of his ODI knocks. His record in internationals isn't great though to be fair, decent average but a very low strike rate.

Latham is a natural white ball middle order batsman who sacrificed that to become a decent red ball opener due to the competition for middle order spots. With enough games under his belt he's a solid option, though I wouldn't want it being at the expense of a Phillips or Chapman.
