Popli is an up and down fella, isn't he. One year he's top run scorer (has he done this 2-3 times) and the next year he's averaging 10 (hyperbole alert).

Good season for Foxcroft across formats, although one ton and 5 50s doesn't exactly smash the door down in the PS.

Add Dane Cleaver to the Batting Not Winners, 15 innings and not a single 50 (maybe the fact that Blundell is such a Test gun is demotivating for a four-day gloveman).

2nd time Popli has been top run scorer.
Duffy is top wicket taker for the 3rd time.

By Wellington generally, are you meaning Wellington batting? or even wider.

Mainly batting. So many youngsters tried in various combinations, most of them dumped at some point and then brought back in. Regression in technique from some (Vishvaka) and even though there were some successes towards the end with Severin and Abbas, it just looks like it hurts to become a batsman in Wellington (Johnson, Greenwood, Bhula, Robinson, Georgeson, Kelly)

Maybe a bit rough on Chu. Averaging 31 isn't great, but he's probably the form keeper bat in the Shield this season.

I would add Mitch Hay to batting winners. 538 runs at 41, six 50s in his first full season.

Patel as a non-winner is harsh. 21 wickets at 33 isn't terrible, and he got 2nd innings 5-for and 6-for in CD wins.

Pringle perhaps better than non-winner. 15 wickets at 37, outplayed Joe Walker in the two ND tight wins defending a 4th innings target.

All-rounder winners add Shipley. 5 PS games, an 80 and two 40s, a 5-for and three 3-fors. Perhaps also add Kris Clarke, useful runs at #8 (244 at 20), 19 wickets with limited support from the other end after Fisher injured and Wagner on test duty.

Apart from Schm00liun, did anyone else score a double? McConchie iirc? Popli never passed 150, which feels like a harsh critique. Not many big daddy hundreds this season.

I guess I based this on the fact Santner took similar amounts of wickets at a much lower average. Those guys are going to need to put up big numbers to replace Sodhi or get themselves into the frame for overseas sub-continent tours.
