*Official* Australia in India 2023

However I am sure @Senile Sentry and @Xix2565 will blame India’s bowlers for not bowling Australia out on 100 again .
They were pretty loose though early on? Australia could've easily been rolled for not much if Jadeja didn't overstep. I won't hold it against them that much because this need for aggressive fields and attacking bowling was caused by Australian bowlers making the best of the conditions, aided by a couple of dumb batting mistakes.

Yeah and it hasn't worked well at all. Poor curating on view. 5 degrees of spin in the first session.is not acceptable especially with unpredictable bounce.
This was a made to order pitch, its a pretty good place to bat on if you want it to - going with red soil was beyond hilarious from this incompetent TM ?

Yeah no doubt Smith was tactically brilliant, with his smart bowling changes and field placings, and also lady luck rewarded him with some stupid shot selections by Indian batters.

Still 5-10 degrees of spin plus insane bounce is not excusable. This is a poor pitch even if somehow India made 250 on this.

And Rohit was exposed as tactically inept. Terrible field placings (hardly anyone around the bat, esp bat pad), stupid rotation of bowlers (he basically shifted a dangerous Jadeja off attack because Jadeja made 2 poor referrals). No pressure on batsmen and plenty of singles on offer. Basically his ridiculous defensive mindset makes bowlers being limited to either lbw , bowled or caught keeper.

Rohit isn't much of an upgrade ever Kohli, the test team has been running on auto pilot for a good while with Jadeja/Ashwin winning us games/series at home from almost impossible situations! Rohit is also, much like Virat, a front runner & both are highly overrated for their captaincy.

Rohit as captain is probably the worst we have seen in a very long time. He is hardly inspirational with his lazy Inzy like body language, his silly tantrums which deflate bowlers, and the over arching defensive mindset which puts even MSD to shame.

Batting wise Rohit is leagues ahead dof Kohli vs spin and in Indian conditions, although it's probably close overseas (with both inept these days).

Reckon straya need to squeeze out at least another 100 runs somehow tomorrow
They need 150 to close this test out. Around 100 or so may not be enough. Even in 2017 we conceded a lead of 85 & won that, aside from the 2004 Mumbai game. Basically chasing anything over 100 last on this pitch could be deadly!

On his last overseas tour(2021 Eng), Rohit did very well

And Rahane was responsible (as a skipper) for two of our toughest series wins in that time! Both Pujara & Kohli don't deserve to continue even at home these days ?

Second seamer seems like a complete waste of a spot. India just seem to have read the pitch wrong, otherwise that was a stupid decision.
Would India consider Hardik Pandya for these sort of pitches or is he completely out of frame now? If they want a second seamer who's only going to bowl maybe 5 overs per innings you might as well stack the batting.

You don;t even need a full time pacer here! India won on the back of just one "pace bowler" in Ishant Sharma at Nagpur 2015 against a much better SA side, you just stack the batting & pick 3 top class spinners which includes Kuldeep right now.

I want to see more heads roll for Gujarat. Pujara is done. Iyer's batting has verged on reckless this series. Kohli can look compact all he wants but those big scores aren't gonna make themselves. Tbh, I'm fed up with this constant hope that this time might be *the* time. Not sure how we get rid of him; hopefully he decides Bollywood/PETA needs a savior and goes away happily.

I'm just fed up with this unending stooltrail of hapless batting from the top order. This is not what we grew up accustomed to, not on Indian soil. Tough wickets, yes, but the lack of technique and application is appalling.

Under normal circumstances, when you lead by 50 with six poles in hand after losing the toss on day 1, its a super position to be in. However it is extremely difficult to extrapolate anything from here when you don't know the magnitude of the collapse. Assuming that they could lose all six wickets within an hour for 20 runs is not even Gambhiring

It is 65-35 imo with Australia being 65 .
