It's the equivalent of attempting 5 mankads in a series and the batsmen being well within the crease for all of them. Just makes you look like a complete dickhead.

How is that any different for appealing for a zillion bat pads which are nowhere near out?

The umpire shouldn’t refer it. That one they went up for was so clearly not out, the ump should just say that and be done with it.
