My position is the same. Man for man Australia is the best team but need to win in the Ashes to confirm that. England better than India.

You want to go by team on paper rather than results. Even going that way, Australia have 3 of the top 5 batsmen while India has 3 of the top 5 all-rounders. Man for man, they both beat England.

And if you want to go by last 3 or 5 year results instead of man for Man, then clearly Australia's and India's results are better seeing that they top the table and qualified for wtc. Australia even last time missed wtc final only by a whisker. England has so far not even been near the wtc final contenders let alone qualifying for it.

If you just want to go by last year results since when Bazball started, both India and England's results have been equally good in this time frame.

Considering all of the above, it is quite clear India are ahead now. Why is this tough for you to understand?

There is lot of ambiguity on the time frame. Each one is interpreting it in their own way. Leaving a lot of room for people to bash one another and claim their opinion to be superior.

Team on paper then Australia to me to be superior. Most of the batting is in form, bowling looks very good. But I admitted that this no.1 status for them isnt a confirmed thing until something big like an Ashes England victory.

Also England better than India given 12 wins/13 tests shouldn't be controversial at all.

The thing is we can either compare Ind, Aus and Eng for similar time periods, or for the same captains. Cummins Aus and Stokes Eng haven’t done anything to be called a better team than Kohli’s Ind(and it doesn’t make sense to compare a guy who has captained fit 7-8 years to people who have done that for barely a year). It is too early to compare Rohit as a captain with any one else. So a more logical approach is comparing them for a similar time period. What I understand is Ind have done much more than Aus and Eng in the last 5 years, being more dominant at home, tying a series away in Eng, winning two in Aus, one in SL and WI, and being competitive in SA. In 2023, it is too early to say. And we can’t say with this middle order, ind would surely lose(or worse not even compete) in Eng and Aus, since they haven’t played their with this team.

Pujara has same record as Labuschagne in last 3 years overseas . Australia batting except Smith is highly suspect overseas .

Thing is, nothing much has changed for Team India in last 5 years except captaincy. Core of the team and playing style all remains the same.
