Both highly accomplished

Purity of technique (pace and spin) - Gavaskar
Hunger for runs - Gavaskar
Better at batting according to the needs of the game/team - Border
Grit - Border
Bigger prick - tough one, Gavaskar probably edges it...?
Gavaskar and
Maybe Border since I don't think he's ever tried to forfeit the match because he was dismissed.
do you consider it a reason ? Are you kidding

I'm deadly serious friend, it was abysmal captaincy.
We are judging them as Batsmen and what happens on the cricket field only players who are involved will be knowing. Gavaskar’s captaincy record was not bad he won few important tournaments. But definitely Border was better. Taking an incident to judge them is pure non sense. We judge them based on their ability to win the matches and how much they were able to do it.

Oh sorry I didn't realise this thread was about me posting facts for you.
I discuss to get the facts out of a discussion. Not sticking to some opinions which have some stupid Logic. Dennis Lillee kicked the leg of Miandad doesn’t mean Lillee is a hopeless cricketer and cannot be called best fast bowler in the world as he kicked the leg of another cricketer. We judge Lillee for the skills he possessed and the impact he made to Cricket. We are not here to crown ? cricketers with Nobel Peace Prize for their Good Conduct.

I rate character highly so having a strop when you get out and 36(174) are important to me. Not sure why you're upset about someone posting opinions in a thread asking for people's opinions.

Ok I am not upset I am just sharing an opinion by giving an example of why one or 2 bad incidents will not brand a person as inferior cricketer. Umpires were indeed biased in those days and sometimes took decisions which annoyed players so he just protested.

It’s not a logic I was re-questioning the validity of his logic and provided the example of Dennis Lillee. Don’t take it personally.
How could I take it personally if it has nothing to do with me or my posts? Unless I’m letting my logic get in the way of my facts

You just know Gavaskar is the sort of monster who doesn't say "Biiiiggggg stretch" when his dog does a big stretch.

Careful guys, don’t mix facts and logic when this bloke’s around.
It’s not about your post. I was just questioning the logic he applied to judge a player’s greatness. When you suggested an opinion I accepted it as it makes perfect sense to build a good team. Here in this thread we are judging 2 players and just with one incident of revolt against umpire decision won’t make a player ineligible for comparison or make him inferior this is the point I wanted to make. If you improve upon the point I have conveyed its good but if you just disprove it based on few parameters we cannot make a matured argument to come to a better conclusion. If you remember I have agreed to your changes as the logic you applied was better. So have the Sportive Mentality to improve the Logic to come to facts.
