Told ya. The change in only a few years was silly.
Oh I don't doubt it but I thought it was early to mid-00s instead of late-00s to early-10s that the massive growth happened. Certainly was a big discussion point around Clarke's era.

The fact that weve grinded attacks of ngidi-jansen-rabada-nortje and roach-holder-joseph-seales into the ground this summer but couldn't manage the same vs an Indian attack with 20 test wickets made up of 2-3 net bowlers will never not amaze me.

Problem Australia have is only having 3.5 bowlers when a big amount of tomorrow could be lost (showers expected all day). Makes it hard to go all out.

Because India is a much better opposition. These Tests series - WI and SA against Australia are meaningless....they are just stats galore feasts for the Aussie batters and bowlers. The real test for Australia will be when they tour India and England.

Australia are a good side but they have been made to look like millionaires due to the weak opposition.

I realise your whole schtick is that no cricket since 2008 is worth consideration but SA have won the last three series in Australia. And won their last series against the "much better opposition" you speak of.

You do realise that South Africa - the current team that is touring Australia is the worst team since they re-entered world cricket in the 1990s.

Comparing this current SA team to previous SA teams that have toured Australia is a lazy way to look at things.

And no that is not my rhetoric in regards to cricket from 2008 onwards. But if you want to think that then go ahead.

But world Test cricket hasn't been good in the last 10 or so years. You can thank T20 for that.

If your point is about the whole team, or the batting specifically, then fair enough. But to say that the bowlers are weak is complete nonsense and just demonstrates a complete disregard for any cricket outside of Australia.

There is no Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram' Curtly Ambrose, Allan Donald, Shaun Pollock type bowlers around is there. Plus that's just the fast bowlers. Now for the spinners....any Shane Warne, Murali, Vettori, MacGill, Saqlain Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmed type bowlers around????

Sure the bowlers are good but not up to those levels in terms of the players around.

The fact is COLLECTIVELY in the past 10 or so years world Test cricket has been no where as good in terms of bowlers. Same applies to batsman too.

But of course you are so caught up in this era that anyone with a different point of view and you'll disagree.

People on this website were saying this in 2008.

Cricket has been awesome for years now. Build a bridge.
No you see the bowling was much much better in the days of Sangakarra and Jayawardene putting on 950+ in an innings. That was so much better bowling on such helpful pitches in those days.

The fact is - it is far too easy and basically lazy to say "cricket is better now. How one dimensional is that? Sounds more like a "get out of jail free card" in the Monopoly board game.

I for one miss the homogeneity of pitches around the world in the 00s, along with the boards and broadcasters ensuring matches lasted 5 days.

What we really need is more test pitches like 2000s Perth, Napier and Colombo.
