Whatever it takes!!!
As far as I know it really is just the umpires decide on a game-by-game basis at some point that it's too dark to continue based on, yes, feels, and then they take a reading to translate their feels into a number that is used as a hard threshold for the rest of the game.

Asinine but to the best of my knowledge that's how it works.
I mean, to an extent, you do have to consider the ground shape, dimensions, stands etc when determining visibility levels for the players. I am not sure of a standard but surely some level of objectivity should be brought in or at least tried.

I don't disagree, but the level of variation that would induce is likely less than the random whims of umpires introduces.

Those things will influence the amount of light reaching the centre yes. That doesn't alter the visibility at a given brightness.

Nortje is so elite he should move to NZ. Get to bowl to some actual totals ya know.

Seriously, imagine if the rest of SA's attack put in half the shift that Nortje has this series

Is Sydney now a worse city than the one starting with a C that shall not be named on Cricket Chat
Do you mean the city of Chennai and the historical context in which Burgey would often refer to how Chennai smells like poo and is basically an open flowing sewer of a city? But because HB was angry the useless mods who couldn't even ban a Nazi who lasted on this forum longer than Nazi Germany lasted in World War Two (2) decided to shut any discourse about Chennai down? Do you mean that?

Also, Nortje finding a spot on the pitch with extra lift makes me think a genuine quick bowler could have been useful here...

If Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was set in Chennai it'd have lasted one episode with turtle corpses being fished from a manhole by Dr Stockman
