Also, why on earth are people going "WhERe GOinG to STruggLE To BOwL SA oUT." There's 3 days left in the test, we already have a significant lead and they don't have a bat who averages north of 40.
Mate if you read most of the last five pages of this thread starting from about tea you'd think that Aus were struggling to make parity and were faced with the prospect of batting last on a dustbowl, not 150-200 runs in front against a completely cooked attack with three days to go with effectively six wickets in hand. Just a huge difference between the tone of a match thread and the tone of the actual cricket.

Three bowlers is always a problem but it's Day 2 ffs.

People just want the match to be closer/more interesting than it is tbh.

I do too but this is very one sided so far. Even if Marnus was guaranteed to bowl 25% of the overs Australia would be massive favourites here. People need to chill.

Saf rise and fall reminds me a lot of Windies.

1. Lost their powerful batting line-up. Windies lost fantastic Batsmen especially ATG Brian lara. Now they are inept with not a single decent batsman. Saf lost several ATG batsmen - Kallis, de villiers , smith and Hashim Amla, and even wicketkeeper batters boucher or de Kock or all rounders like Pollock or klusener

2. Lost their atg bowlers, Steyn, Philander and Morkel is one of the ATG 3 prong seam attacks in the history of this sport.

Aus will try to bat til tea tomorrow, lead by about 500 and just set attacking fields for as long as it takes

On reflection, pisspoor captaincy by Elgar ...as soon as Green got wrapped in the finger he should have got everyone into a huddle ...'Listen men we are behind the game , basically in a follow on position..But Warner is crocked, Starc is out of the frame and Green doesn't look good, give me everything in this last 45 minutes ..I'm gonna set ultra attacking fields get a silly on , get a gully the works , I want fire ...We get 2-3 wickets there's a chance we bat again against an attack that is wounded ...It's now or never .'

If Rabada in particular had put in anything like the shift that Nortje in particular and Jansen in the first session did, then no way would Aus be 200 in front by stumps. They'd still be well in front of the game, but SA seriously dropped their bundle in the field after tea.

Like the idea but just don't think there was any fire left to give, they were just in 32-36 degrees for about 6 hours.

What do saf do for scg? The bowling lineup is going to knackered here. Surely Coetzee and Simon Harmer, come in for the struggling ngidi and Maharaj.

The loss of those bowlers isn't so much of an issue. They've had a bad test this time around, but any combination of three of Rabada/Jansen/Nortje/Ngidi is comparable to Steyn/Philander/Morkel. The problem is that they're making the team a batsman short by playing all four of them and expecting them not only to knock over the opposition cheaply but also eke out enough runs in the hopes of positing a competitive score since South Africa are trying out their new innovative strategy of not picking their best batsmen.

The loss of the batting is huge. Probably the best batting line-up ever- the past saf Teams, even better than peak Australian team . Only weakness was lacking the spinner, now their spinner is really bad. The bowling attack is unplayable on their home pitches.
