Wides would have got the job done.OTOH, the pitch was doing enough that a chase of even 100 would've been close.
and mine is open the batting with Lungi NgidiPresumably his point is that they need the extra batsman
Nothing. I love Ngidi. One of the quicks would have to sit out if they pick 7 batters and I'd have Jansen in over Ngidi.if batting is your worry then i don't see what ngidi has done wrong

de Bruyn with his aggressive nature might have been alright. But unlikely to drop Ngidi considering he took wickets in the warmup. More likely gonna drop Maharaj. The hard on for Jansen and not selecting Mulder as an option has made it difficult for them to select a 7th batsmen without dropping Maharaj,Even with Klaasen and de Bruyn on the bench, either of them instead of Ngidi might have given SA a better chance in this game. STOP PICKING 6 BATSMAN LIKE YOU HAVE THE SA TOP SIX OF 2012 FFS.
I hate that the comparison is now between Jansen and Mulder instead of us looking at Jansen purely as a bowler. He has been excellent since his debut. He clearly has something special.de Bruyn with his aggressive nature might have been alright. But unlikely to drop Ngidi considering he took wickets in the warmup. More likely gonna drop Maharaj. Agree. My comment was not to compare Jansen and Mulder. I would like to be playing both. Jansen is just not an allrounder option whereas Mulder has that potential. For me if you dropping a bowlers its between Nortje and Ngidi at this stage and that is a tough decision.I hate that the comparison is now between Jansen and Mulder instead of us looking at Jansen purely as a bowler. YeasssssssssDaily reminder that Wides>Head
I agree that Rickelton may have struggled more on this pitch... but at the same time if he just scores a decent counterattcking 30-40 which is possible with the form he has... who knows. I just know I would prefer him to Erwee, VDD, Zondo and Bavuma. And right now probably Elgar as well...Rickleton is in awesome form but I dont know if he would have done anything on this wicket? Keegan could have done what he did against us though.
Oh well if you say so. This explanation of incompetence is kind of reassuring in way and familiar wrt selectors. I was getting the impression white players were still be favoured in SA which would've been quite strange.No. The selection policy has been to go for FC experience (white or otherwise) hence the general age of current selection who have hardly any Test experience. They are going along the next in line conveyor belt without thinking ahead or trying to build a team, or giving more talented but less experienced players a chance to find their feet at the Test level.
Argument is apparently whether this is as bad as or worse than Galle/ AhamadabadArgh all this pitch talk. . It was spicier than I think it should have been, but this SA batting lineup being so weak clearly made it seem worse than it was. I don't think this can be considered doctoring a pitch, because that would mean staking the odds in the favour of one team. If Elgar came off and got a 100 then SA could have been in the game,so I dont think Australia stacked the odds in their favour.
Rickelton sitting out is the big WTF right now. Probably having a better run in domestic cricket than anyone in the current Test lineup has had across LO and FC games. But apparently he has an ankle injury that stopped him touring.Oh well if you say so. This explanation of incompetence is kind of reassuring in way and familiar wrt selectors. I was getting the impression white players were still be favoured in SA which would've been quite strange.
Think they get a pass because of the pitch now. Probably wouldn't have been the case if it was chased down with only a wicket down.Argh all this pitch talk. .
