yeah this is excellent and entertaining cricket but the bloke's right that if this was spin bowling doing the damage people would be waaaaahing

both this and dustbowls are both good!
Like there have been some turning pitches in Tests I've seen that are definitely worse than this, but likewise if there was a seaming wicket that was as bad as those turning wickets (for example if Paul Collingwood was taking 6 for 9) that would be just as bad. I just don't think there have been seaming wickets that get as bad as the more extreme examples of dustbowls that have popped up

This is literally the exact same word-for-word post that you could make about a massive raging turner though. "Why do batsman keep missing the straight balls and getting bowled", he writes after five of the six previous balls turned ninety degrees.
It's completely different

It's genuinely annoying. There have been a few "unplayable" balls but most wickets haven't been. At all. It's been sustained bowling in good areas and batsmen making mistakes. Stop ****ing complaining about a pitch that is great for Test cricket.
Oh so you get it

I think fast bowling related bad pitch is when it starts to shoot low and rear up dangerously. Sideways movement, even excessive, is fine. Yeah the scores would be low but great players like Travis Head still find ways while mediocre ones like Mathew Wade will no doubt struggle
Excessive variable bounce = bad pitch in my book regardless of pace or spin. Just because an offie bowls it doesn't make one that rolls along the deck any more of a joke dismissal when it happens.

That is pretty rich coming from a guy who considers SL pitches doctored .
If SL pitches are doctored, so is this .
Do you know what "doctored" means?

Australia making this pitch on purpose wouldn't help them against SA. And on previous tours to Sri Lanka they have literally spoken in the media about doctoring the pitches as part of their tactics.

You're reverting to old Sunilz. This is junk posting. Be better

If marnus could rock up and take 5 fa then the comparisons would be fair

Having a pitch that produces a result within a couple of days is unacceptable. True, the bowling is far superior to the batting but the pitch has made it even more so.

Garbage. No one on this wicket is playing for seam movement and then getting out to a straight ball ffs

This pitch is no different than Galle pitch which SL rolls out every time .
No amount of whining would change that .
And I may be reverting to old Sunilz but you are posting same junk from last 5 years and I see no change in you .

And I am not accusing Aus of pitch doctoring . I am saying this is a garbage pitch .

Has any of this discussion about the pitch noted that the two sides started with match with bowlers who have averages of (from highest to lowest):

35.44 - Green
31.78 - Lyon
30.61 - Maharaj
27.52 - Nortje
27.43 - Starc
22.46 - Rabada
21.50 - Cummins
21.61 - Ngidi
18.59 - Jansen
10.33 - Boland

Yes, some of those are not representative and are due to playing on bowling-friendly pitches. But given that conditions are favourable and SA's batting is very weak is it a surprise the match has gone the way it has?

Oh, and worth noting there's a decent amount of turn and bounce out there. In comparison the dustbowls rarely, if ever offer anything for the pace bowlers.

So a greenish pitch is good for cricket but rank Turner is not ? Talk about double standards
This pitch is equivalent to a rank turner. Batting's become a bit of a lottery.

Stop being idiots. You've got 2 very good bowling attacks and a lot of ordinary batting out here. It's a bowler's wicket but it's not a terrible pitch.
Same happens when teams visit India. Most batsmen are terrible against Spin and they get rolled over cheaply on dusty wickets.

Ok so you don't know what it means. Doctoring wickets is something you do to try and help your team win. This is obviously not an example of that, if anything it's doing the opposite.

Point is if this pitch is fine then don't complaint about rank Turner .
I don't mind turning pitches but ones that allow Clarke and Root to have ludicrous figures aren't similar to what we are seeing here. This is good fast bowlers taking wickets not Marnus Labuschagne's dibbly dobblies

Yes and I wouldn't complain about any Indian pitch I've seen in the last 10 years. Even Pune 2017, I don't think was any worse than this.
