I'm not a big Temba Bavuma fan but people having a go at him is ridiculous in this moment in time , Bavuma before this game has been in decent form in Test Cricket.
His last two years in Test Cricket or last 10 Ten Tests he has scored 696 Test runs @ 46.4 , no hundreds but 5 50's from 19 innings which is fairly consistent ,
most of those knocks have come with SA in serious trouble so most definitely he deserves his place in the squad especially in this batting line up .

Also he's a much better Test batsman than Hamilton Masakadza , Zimbabwe is a much easier place to bat than South Africa and yet Hamilton only averaged 30 in 38 Tests ..

I like your commitment to the idea... but the entire top 5 needs to be replaced for SA. Most have them should have been replaced 18 months ago.

Verreynne is the safest bet in the SA batting line up for me. Shouldn't be at 6,but is a fine wicket keeper batsman. The rest of them can take a hike,Elgar included.

one of the better tail enders in world cricket are here- in jansen and maharaj. fast bowlers need rest and cant bowl over 12 overs continuously. lyon keeps em fresh, ditto saffers will use maharaj to keep the fast bowlers fresh

If SA are using maharaj at this stage of an innings after selecting 4 fast bowlers... then it truly will be the end of SA cricket.
