*Official* Australia vs South Africa -2022/3

International Coach
No, I am just referring to the last two tests that he batted. He has actually batted in only 23 innings out of 16 tests which is quite low for a number 7 batsman.
it's kind of funny in that if you looked at this alone you might well think like, awesome, he's been put in when he's young and hasn't had to carry too huge of a burden - but really what it's ultimately meant is given he's had probably more failures with the bat than we'd hoped (but also some v solid digs), and has by selection with the national team been precluded from the shield, he has not had anywhere close to what we'd want by way of time out there in the middle

You should never discount Warner. He has always responded strongly when people had given up on him. Predicting him to be in the top 3 run-getters in the series, which will be a marvelous achievement with Smith, Labu, Khawaja and Head in top form.

Also, Green has failed only in the last 2 tests that he played. Been in consistent hitting form before that. That Aussie top 6 vs the SA 5 man attack of Rabada, Nortje, Ngidi, Jansen and Maharaj is going to be a treat to watch.

I predict 3-0 to Australia and that will favor India for WTC too but it will be nice if the South Africans can cause an upset.
they arent going to play 4 pacers and 1 spinner..are they? then their batting will be very thin in depth.

They have been doing that for a while now. But not sure if they will go with the same combination on aussie pitches.

They could do it. their wicketkeeper bats well - Kyle Verreynn

note from the warm up, a new batter is emerging- The display of 20-year-old left-hander Campbell Kellaway was the highlight for the future of Australian cricket. He appeared as comfortable as a seasoned veteran in his unbeaten 109 in the first innings, and was going along nicely at 34 not out when the match ended. Maybe worth a go, if warner retires, i doubt we can do any worse. if he's the next hussey , we might as well try.

In first-class cricket. He's yet to reproduce that form in tests. But that doesn't solve the problem of being thin on batting as he'd be one of the top 6 in the 4 man pace attack scenario.

boland, cummins, starc and neser is a totally different ballgame. nearly all unplayable at the moment. Neser- totally unplayable in his last game. They are moving the ball considerably, at good pace. Also you got Lance morris 150kph+ on the sideline, would walk into any test team in the world right now and start immediately. This is the best pace bowling attack australia have produced in a series, since the 2013 ashes when johnson, ryano & siddle steamed in, all swung it considerably at decent pace, and were very unplayable. Australia won the series 5–0

Nah they will go with 5 bowers.

Australian pitches are clearly flatter than South African pitches. They go with 4+1 at home, even more reason to go 4+1 in Aus.
