England test tour of Pakistan December 2022

I dunno about this test and series but Pak are being very battle hardened here. The Kiwis may find it very tough to avoid a 2-0 loss.
Will be shocked if NZ get particularly close in either test tbh. When you look at this side vs the team that won in the UAE in 2018 (by the skin of their teeth) the gulf in class is pretty stark. No Boult, Taylor or Watling. Wagner and KW shadows of their former selves. Ajaz having played barely any cricket in the last 12 months. Yes Conway, Mitchell, Blundell and Jamieson counter-balance the decline to a certain extent, but none of them have significant experience in the sub-continent (and Jamieson won't be fit for the tour anyway).

Yeah, Boult isn't available for regular overseas tours anymore. Just ICC events and home series (where they don't overlap with his T20 league obligations).

This Pakistan team has been terrible though

Wr are terrible right now. We have no spinner the best pacers are injured and the captain-coach has a combined IQ of 12 i will be shocked if Nz lose the sries.

NZ dropped a test to Bangladesh, and that was before Boult semi-retired. They'll be big underdogs in Pakistan.

Left field thinking someone like a Shan Masood as captain with a strong foreign coach maybe an Andy Flower or a Tom Moody is what Pakistan needs. Shan is not among the top 6 batsman in the country but still an upgrade on an aging Azhar or listless Salman.
Its a risk worth taking to ensure maximum value from Babar the batsman unhindered by captaincy who I feel can go a golden run with the bat in the next 4-5 years if he just focues on scoring maximum runs. Shan also seems like a smart guy who will make better selections and ensure better game plans are in place.

Yeah I kind of like this idea. Tap Azhar on the shoulder, bat Masood at 3 and give him the captaincy.

To be fair Shan has not helped his case by being so inconsistent with the bat an output similar to Asad Shafiq would have ensured a long uninterrupted career for him.
His uncle is a respected bureaucrat whose in PCB board of governance while his father is one of the celebrated corporate Ceo's of the last 25 years he ended up getting more opportunities then others due to his background yet he never cracked international cricket like he should have.
