correctWhat Head is doing right now is no surprise. What he needs to be doing is performing away from the comforts of home. I think he is good but needs to perform outside Australia and to me is slightly overrated at the moment.

And really if we are being honest with ourselves...hand on heart....how can any of us take this Australia vs West Indies Test series seriously? The opposition is poor collectively.correct
Thats one way to look at it but the fact is that Travis Head has batted 19 times (innings) outside Australia, and hasn't performed - he simply needs to do more. 19 times is a fair amount of innings and enough data to tell us that he struggles outside of Australia. That will be the next challenge for him to overcome - performing away from home.Shows how few tests Aus has played away in that time tbh
None of the selections was as awful as the decision to bowl first. **** me that was a clanger. His Ashes over there really wasn't that bad. Not outstanding, but should never have been dropped for the 5th Test
Selection for that test in general was particularly awful. I mean, Siddle? Seroiusly?
8 innings, 191 runs, 1 not out, average of 27.28......you'd expect more from a middle order batsman. He has the chance to make amends for that 2019 England tour if he is picked for the 2023 Ashes series in England. His Ashes over there really wasn't that bad. Can exclusively report about 1/3 of the squad was still pissed after retaining the Ashes in a hand canter the week before. His Ashes over there really wasn't that bad. Not outstanding, but should never have been dropped for the 5th Test

In a series where only Smith and Marnus really thrived, Head was passable considering the circumstances. Certainly a hell of a lot better than Wade had been up to that point, now there's a guy who went completely missing anytime Australia was actually under pressure that series. First test second innings, Smith did most of the hard work with help from Khawaja and Head, Wade just came in to downhill ski after the job was already mostly done, last innings was just him swinging like a rusty gate after the game was already lost, completely inconsequential, outside of that just a cavalcade of abject failure8 innings, 191 runs, 1 not out, average of 27.28......you'd expect more from a middle order batsman. He has the chance to make amends for that 2019 England tour if he is picked for the 2023 Ashes series in England.
Having an official leadership ban placed on him was stupid in the first place - they were just placating the mob.Close run race between CA & Warner as to whom looks more stupid
CA could have stopped this thing dead in its tracks by patting Davey on the head and telling him that he would be considered for a leadership position if the opportunity should ever arise
Don’t pick him, just spin bs
For his part, Warner obviously doesn’t possess one iota of self awareness if he thinks that he’s going to be appointed so why push the issue?
Yeah it’s not great, but even then do you expect anyone to do better? I can’t say I do.8 innings, 191 runs, 1 not out, average of 27.28......you'd expect more from a middle order batsman. He has the chance to make amends for that 2019 England tour if he is picked for the 2023 Ashes series in England.
No I don't. I mean Smith does well away from home, Warner not so great and the same applies to Head. Marnus is ok away from home.Yeah it’s not great, but even then do you expect anyone to do better? I can’t say I do.
Yeah I agree with this. I'd back Head to come good over the other options in England and SA but Handscomb and Maxwell would be better picks in Asia.TBF I would probably drop Warner especially if he doesn’t score runs against South Africa and would pick Handscomb over Head against India. Handscomb would get eaten alive in England though and I don’t rate any of the alternate middle-order options.
Anyone calling Head overrated is flat out not reading this forum when we have multiple people calling him not Test standard based on god knows what. Bloke has 2000 Test runs in 30 games, these two innings have obviously been very facile but let's not pretend they've all been that.
Head should be captain tbh.As for the Smith being captain thing, Khawaja should really be captain. That was true in 2018, it was true in 2021, it's true today.
