Wanting free hits in test cricket really is one of the most smooth-brained, awful cricket opinions out there. Replacing the natural flow of the test game wth contrived nonsense. The penalty for a no-ball has always been very clear and proportionate. No need to extend it for some contrived spectacle (I'd just bowl well wide of the stumps anyway)

Imagine if in that over in the 2005 Ashes rather than Flintoff dismissing Ponting off the final ball he'd just made a top-edged slash for four because he couldn't be out. Not only would one of the most famous moments in test cricket not have happened to ensure some contrived nonsense, it probably would have changed the outcome of the match and series. You really have to be genuinely re'tarded to think it's a good idea.
The Murray Mint munching bastards not winning in 2005 would be an unequivocally good thing. Otherwise I agree completely

The Aussie seamers were so good today, absolutely relentless. This team is definitely giving it their all and showing a lot of guts and determination, but ultimately Cummins and co were a bit too good. I feel for Blackwood who was really curving his natural game and got a bit of a shocker from the on-field umpire. Ultimately we don't have the quality of middle order batsmen to deal with that level of bowling on Australian pitches though.

We could help ourselves a little bit here and there though with better decision making. Seales swings the ball prodigiously and there was some on offer, but he didn't get an over, even though Roach was basically wasting it outside off stump.

I didn’t think he would get runs on this tour but that’s actually quite an uncharacteristic dismissal shot for him. Maybe got dragged into the banter with Starc and wanted to hit him.
That is the worst shot he has played in tests so far. Very odd.

He also played a top innings early on and has been living on it ever since
Yeah tbf to him his first 10 tests were excellent. But his off spin has always been overrated and he stopped moving his feet when batting 3 years ago.

He has had a long run because he is from Barbados it is as simple as that. Others were not given the same privilege even after playing superb early knocks. Even more galling is that he had to do nothing to get back in the side, whereas the likes of Blackwood had to score bucketloads of FC runs to get back in after they were dropped.

Reminds me a bit of Kirk Edwards, started well and then decided he didn't need to move his feet. Bonner is the same.

Mayers could do with moving down the order.

Yep I'd actually move Blackwood up to 3. He does it for Jamaica and this latest version of him can handle that slot imho. But Bonner can't bat 3 or 4, he keeps getting hit, it's embarrassing. In Antigua or against Bangladesh it's fine, but anywhere else and he will get shown up.

Mayers needs to bat at 6 or 7.

I like the idea of Blackwood moving up the order, he does seem to be (dare I say it) maturing. Bring King in at 4, which leaves 5 up for grabs.

King should be playing tests. It is so baffling that our selectors will move goalposts to fit in the likes of Chase but won't select King due to a lack of recent red ball experience. His one FC match featured the best knock of our whole FC season. IMHO he is a far better red ball better than white.

Marnus top edges a pull for six, then next ball gets caught off the short ball but it's a no ball. Lucky ****.
