The tv crew keep comparing Zahid Mahmoud to Suraj Randiv's debut. With England's bowling lineup, if the Pakistani batting order can get their act together, then Jacks and Livingston have an opportunity to match or supersede Mahmoud. Randiv's 222 conceded on debut came, after all, when India were replying to Sri Lanka's 642 - 4dec. and scored 707 in reply (note that Randiv conceded 222 across 73 overs at around 3rpo.)

The test match in question - the Devon Malcolm test at the Oval in 1994. Donald went at exactly 8 an over bowling to Gooch, Hick, Thorpe (all went at more than a run a ball) and... Mike Atherton (who didn't).
