This was 2 years ago. Butler must have climbed. Chris Gayle's average after removing non-Minnows is not that great. Some results are quite weird. Ranking Imran as a bat above Buttler and Gayle
I saw that in the CW thread for greatest ODI bowlersIf you think he was bowling this isn't off base tbh
But surely Chris Gayle is a better ODI bat than Imran. This was 2 years ago. Butler must have climbed. Chris Gayle's average after removing non-Minnows is not that great.
Sure. It's an algo. It spits out few anomalies. But surely Chris Gayle is a better ODI bat than Imran.
Ajmal's stats in a batting friendly era are incredible. Both in terms of economy and strike power. Whether they should count or not is a separate matterI saw that in the CW thread for greatest ODI bowlers
But atleast Gayle averages 51 against Eng after scoring 1000+ runs against them and nearly 40 against two other major nations. Highest Imran averages against a non minnow team was 46 vs NZ, and below 40 above all elseThis was 2 years ago. Butler must have climbed. Chris Gayle's average after removing non-Minnows is not that great.
His SR is far better than Imran’sSure. It's an algo. It spits out few anomalies.
Gayle's SR in ODIs is also not that great.
Era adjusted they maybe same .His SR is far better than Imran’s
But Gayle has what 10,000+ ODI runs, Imran doesn’t even have 4 at the same era adjusted SR.Era adjusted they maybe same .
Any statistical analysis will give some weird results. No need to take that seriouslyBut Gayle has what 10,000+ ODI runs, Imran doesn’t even have 4 at the same era adjusted SR.
You are looking at it the wrong way. These rankings are not definitive but they show general trends. How many 40 @ 80 openers have there been in the last 20 years? Imran had a better average and strike rate than many respectable batsmen like Border and Waugh. Sanga also was only ok for most of his career. His stats are only moderately better than Misbah. Stats can't capture a player's true worth because of team dynamics, how a batsman paces an innings and other factors that can't be accounted for but you are definitely either overrating Gayle or underrating Imran's batting. Also Imran is ranked above Sanga, Azhar, Klusener, Ganguly and just next to Inzamam
TBF, people arguing back and forth over multiple pages without anyone changing viewpoint is the only fitting way one can discuss subshakerz.I dream of a day when someone will discuss me over 4 pages on CW like they did subshakerz.
But is Kapil or Imran a better ODI bat?Lol at this thread reaching 23 pages in a day.
Even Imran averaged below 30 for the 12 years of his 18 year ODI careerYou are looking at it the wrong way. These rankings are not definitive but they show general trends.
