also Ben Stokes was clutch af. Struggled but stuck in there and cashed in on Shaeen's injury and Wasim's poor over. That's what you have to do in high pressure situations. Survive the tough phases so you can be there to take advantage of moments like this.

The fact that him and Moeen were in there together + Pak's low score is also probably why Nawaz did sneak in an over anytime sooner, forcing Pak to be overly reliant on the 4 quicks all having to finish their quota.

Surely this was a a great final. Sure, Afridi went off injured, but I suspect England would have still got the runs. They were always within reach.
Pakistan were slight favourites at that stage. The injury was a key moment. Yes England may have still won, but they were definitely struggling at that stage by perhaps 60-40 to Pakistan. You might argue the injury wasn’t down to luck but poor judgment however. Just one of those things and a reason to introduce subs for injuries

I look forward to both captains and the icc acknowledging the generosity and hospitality of the Australian people in the presentation ceremony.

in a world gone mad, australia provided sanctuary and bonhomie to the world’s best cricketers and hosted the greatest cricket tournament ever. And all outside the regular international cricket season.

An incredible race of people.

Even made us feel at home by having rain significantly affect the tournament

Hear hear, the only shame was the final not being played in Brisbane. Beautiful City.

so, where is the next installment?
Should always be held here. Same with the Olympics. Been pretty much unanimous since Sydney that nowhere else does sporting events better than Australia. And so it’s proven yet again.
