Good call that, but there's a lot of possible entry points in Bacher, Irvine, and whatever seamers were around.

Problem is, Tiger Lance is pretty much a direct way-worse-than-Watson player who got gigs.

the thing with watson is you can get him into any side if he's better than any of the second best opener, worst of the middle order bats or worst pacer, or only just slightly worse than the worst batsman but through the bowling is worth it

What's all this about Watson?

There are plenty of teams he wouldn't make including most Auatralian teams. He wouldn't get close to making the current side with Warner and Khawaja opening and Green as an allrounder. He wouldn't even make the NZ team that lost 3-0 (horror tour) sans the injured Bond to England in 2004 (Richardson and Fleming opened, while Cairns, Oram, and Vettori were better allrounders).

I think Stokes is much closer than Watson, is a better bat and brings way more with the ball. There are still teams with other great all rounders that he might not make though.

We are back to that middle order bat.
