Who is the worst player of all time that would be selected in every XI in history?

Athlai

Not Terrible
Langer wouldn't make India's playing 11 in 08-11 ( Till England tour ) . Gambhir was in immense form during those time and had habit of playing clutch knocks.

I know Langer is better test opener than Gambhir but I am talking of these 3 years . And Gambhir was a better ODI batsman than Langer(Indian selectors prefer same team in both formats unless one is extremely bad in other format) so there is no way he is making India's team in those 3 years
Gambhir wouldn't get selected if Langer was an incumbent though. You can't really do this by form alone when the competition is so high.

I am not sure of this. Gambhir was in very good ODI form too. And Indian selectors have wrong habit of mixing formats. They really tried their best to fit Yuvraj Singh in India's test team .

I think answer to your question is Damien Martyn or Kapil Dev (?)

It's Kallis isn't it? Would make the WI sides as a batsman alone, same with the Aus sides of 1948 & the 2000s. His bowling is just a bonus.

Of course, he wouldn't win many matches for them, but still.

Or may be Frank Worrell because KP might not be able to break into Sobers + 3W combination that did play a few tests together iirc.
I think he could still break in although he would have to open, I'd still back him to be easily selected over Holt, the WI of that time were also not shy about using the middle order batsman as openers from time to time.
(He miiiight also break in over Collie Smith although that's a massive stretch, WI needed that bowling.)

here’s one for the jadeja heads: doesn’t make the herath n dilruwan era lanka sides for my money

can’t beat out rangana for the first spot, dilruwan’s picked as the designated guy who turns it the other way and his batting doesn’t beat out dhananjaya for the darter all rounder spot. shane watson on the other hand walks into any of these squads

Lol wut no way man. Jadeja just about makes any of those lankan teams on batting alone, and would be unstoppable as a bowler on the pitches SL dish up. Not only would he make the team, he'd be their best player

It's a great question and I'm surprised by how many people are struggling to understand it. Maybe it's easiest through some examples?

Any XI that has played a test match would be stronger if they replaced one of their players (they get to choose which one) with Bradman. The same is true for Sobers and lots of other ATG.

The same is not true for Zak Crawley. Lots of teams wouldn't drop one of their players for Zak Crawley. Maybe some would, but not all of them.

Athlai is asking who is the worst player that every XI in history would drop one of their players to include in their team.
Thanks for explaining with so much patience. You would make great professor.
It is not your fault; but I am still failing your course.

Hard to tell which one of you is doing a better Migara there.

jadeja does not crack this lineup lol, he is a better bat than kaushal silva but if you're twisting the bounds to make jadeja open for the purposes of the exercise then you're not doing it right1665651183104.png

think of the roles of the players though! marcus harris is absolutely dog****, but you wouldn't swap harbhajan singh for him in those teams right
Jadeja is better than every player there. At least as good as Herath even if you ignore batting and fielding, which you don't. And he absolutely destroys de Silva and Perera at every aspect of the game. You're living in a different reality if you think Dilruwan perera is as good as Jadeja
